Contemporary Art Museum To Be Built In Design District, Funded By Braman

A new museum building will be built in the Miami Design District., with construction to start next year.

The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA Miami), which was split off earlier this year from Noth Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art, will open in a new home on Northeast 41st Street in time for Art Basel 2016.

Norman Braman will fund construction of the new 37,500-square-foot, three-story building. The land will be donated by Miami Design District Associates, which is controlled by  L Real Estate and Craig Robins.

Aranguren & Gallegos of Madrid is the architect. Construction will begin either next Summer (according to the N.Y. Times) or next December (Miami Herald).
