Crane Heights Filed For 506-Unit Apartment Tower At 444 Brickell

An application has just been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration to install two  cranes at the 444 Brickell Tower II construction site.

Construction has been underway at the site since around January, shortly after developer Related Group obtained a $164 million construction loan for the project.

According to the June 13 FAA filing, two cranes are planned:

  • Crane 1, rising 589 feet above ground, or 591 feet above sea level
  • Crane 2, rising 551 feet above ground, or 553 feet above sea level

The 75-story, 848-foot Baccarat tower is planned on on adjacent site, along with a third 82-story, 897-foot tower.

hopefully they’ll make a cute park from the reserved native land space. it’ll probably look cute having the new park space across from the redevelopment site of hyatt regency

We want a new park and connected river walk with unique experiences! They are meeting in July and hopefully they will bring something to the table to gain broader community support.

Not all of us! Many of us want to see more inventory and more options for purchasing our next condo. Take your lazy ass to Downtown. There are beautiful parks right over the bridge.

Said the greedy real estate hedge found manager driving up prices by buying blocks of condos and lobbying against parks and public spaces with disregard for quality of life.

Great to see that Ken Griffin made a $20m donation to Miami Dade College, and a $25m donation to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and $5m to Miami Conne t (to assist undeserved kids improve access to broadband and higher quality of life), and $5m to the US Soccer Fed/Children’s Trust, and Venture Miami for scholarships, etc. Etc. Etc.

To my knowledge, there have been ZERO hedge fund managers who waste their money lobbying AGAINST parks.

The lobby against crowd, are usually parasites who contribute nothing and expect the producers to give them more and more blood because WE NEED more of this or that.

Ken Griffin is incredible! I know he donated to the Underline and other public initiatives and thank him for that. But there seems to be certain individuals lobbying against parks and public improvements, or rather simply deflecting such calls, although I don’t know why. Maybe our leaders would rather us expect less and be blown away on delivery to keep expectations at bay. I’m confident we are moving closer to valuing, maintaining and cared for our shared community spaces.

Speaking for myself, I am in favor of more parks, but certainly not at this site where Related is planning the Baccarat tower. That would have been a travesty if these greedy NIMBYs won their cause using native americans as an excuse to get a new riverfront lot to take their dogs to shit. So glad they lost and Related will develop all 3 towers.

I strongly support development. However, it is essential to recognize that the situation is more complex than you suggest. Multiple groups and interests have been advocating for the recognition of Native American findings dating back to the beginning of civilization. There is another meeting in July. It is unlikely that these claims were invented solely for the purpose of creating a park, especially when there are alternative land options available. Moreover, many individuals are simply seeking thoughtful urban planning from developers during the transitional phase of downtown Miami, particularly regarding the riverwalk. This is not a case of nimbyism but a genuine desire for careful consideration in urban development and additions to our robust cultural and community landscapes.

People do other things in parks like read, relax, eat, enjoy natural settings, and, yea, we do also need designated places for dogs to play and use the bathroom (unless you want to step in it) 🐶

Beautiful parks in Brickell too. But with all the new inventory we got to include nice community spaces.

Fair Representation and Community Cohesion
3 months ago

We want to address a pressing issue that affects our neighborhood – the division of our community and the lack of representation. A judge recently ruled that our voting districts must be redrawn because they were racially motivated.

The recent meeting held by the commissioners did not allow public comment, and the proposed map continues to divide Brickell, merging it with Little Havana. We firmly believe that Brickell should be considered as a single voting block, reflecting our shared concerns and interests. Our aim is to unite our community, ensure fair representation, and make decisions that benefit us all. We urge you to join us in advocating for a map that respects the integrity of Brickell, unites us on common themes, and allows our voices to be heard.

Together, let’s create a stronger, more inclusive Brickell where every resident is valued and represented.

See new plan here:

Proposed new map that actually represents the shared concerns of each neighborhood (not based on more unconstitutional political power grabs):

Why? Isn’t that still their plan?

Anon

No. New plan required by City in July. That was the deal.

Anonymous

Go back and read the announcements shortly after the meeting. Related is still planning to move forward with all 3 towers. The third tower will merely incorporate some sort of commemoration to the discovered ruins. It will absolutely not be a park tho.

Nah

It absolutely will be a park with a memorial and dynamic river walk. Nobody wants to live there without a large riverwalk park. Brickell won’t be able to compete with other neighborhoods. Retail comes and goes – parks are forever.

Anonymous

Please cite your sources showing a park will be developed here. I have heard nothing official of the sort and many of us are prepared to fight against that plan if it does present itself.

Anon

I didn’t mean a park would go in place of the towers. The riverwalk appears as part of the plan, which itself is a park space that can be enhanced. Maybe we will learn more about the riverwalk part when the plans are discussed by those involved.

So, it’s a total of 3 towers and these cranes are for the shorter tower? Sorry for my ignorance. I’m new to Miami and the site and it’s not very clear.

Yes, that’s correct. The shorter tower fronts SE 5th St and will be a rental tower.

If you’re rich enough to buy a condo in that building you’re going to want a spot for your car. Just because you own a car doesn’t mean you have to drive it often if you live near work….
