Delta Continues Growing At MIA With New Flights To Nassau

Delta Airlines is expanding at Miami International Airport.

The airline has launched sales for tickets to Nassau in the Bahamas. Daily 737 service begins November 5, and will operate year-round.

It is Delta’s only international route from MIA, other than Havana.

Delta has the second most passengers at Miami International Airport so far in 2023, behind only American. The airline has been adding new routes, including Washington National starting in October.

Latam, which is the busiest foreign carrier at MIA, has a strategic partnership with Delta that is expected to grow.

MIA is now actively working on plans to expand the South Terminal where both airlines fly from, including several new widebody gates.

The South Terminal’s new widebody gate expansion is planned here:

the airport should be doing everything it can to expand the terminals at MIA. Miami Dade is in a strategic location for connecting within the US, Europe, Latin America and hopefully Asia

More Eastern Asian flights to Japan, less flights to where people go by pleasure boat anyway.

It was always an odd pairing that Delta partnered with LATAM when LATAM’s most important hub in America is dominated by American.

It is difficult to see how Delta will get the necessary feed to make a lot of these flights successful, but that’s for them to worry about.

They were trying to build a hub so that they can feed their Latin American network via la time. They had big plans prior to Covid, but they had to scale them back. Looks like they are bringing back those plans.

DELTA is bar none the best airlines and carrier in North America and MIA would be foolish not to expand Delta’s presence.

United, American, Frontier, Southwest, and Spirit all have multiple daily flights to Denver. American and Southwest also have multiple daily flights to Austin.
