Demolition Crews Arrive At One Brickell City Centre Supertall Site

Demolition equipment and crews have arrived at the site where the One Brickell City Centre Supertall tower is planned, according to a tweet by Brian Bandell.

A full demolition permit and a tree permit are both still in review, Building Department records show.

A partial electrical demolition permit was recently approved, as was a permit to install temporary toilets typically used for construction workers.

Construction permits to either build the full tower or a foundation do not yet appear to be in review.

One Brickell City Centre is planned as a “nearly 1,000-foot-tall Class A office building.”

Hong Kong-based Swire Properties is developing the project in partnership with Related Companies, which is controlled by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

Swire’s Brickell City Centre has been transformational for the City of Miami. The subterranean parking has been a game changer. Going to be epic!

A shame that WC turned out to be rather dull.

A proper office tower in the heart of brickell that integrates beautifully in the community. Very few like these in the country. Usually where these big buildings are, its a ghost town after 5pm

Where? You must be thinking of Houston or Denver. In NYC, Chicago, LA and even Atlanta they are not ghost towns after 5:00 pm they actually have a vibrant night life.

Awesome! Stephen Ross does such incredible development in South Florida. This is going to be epic 👏 👏

Did you notice how it now says “nearly 1000 feet?” I think they might be lowering the height…. hope not..

Most recent renders have show in to be in the 900 foot range—it’s been lowered. Not a true supertall if built under 1000 ft.

Supertall status it’s 984 feet (or 300 meters) and up.

👀 Did you notice this is irrelevant, and could have been its own separate discussion topic?

The finishing touch to BCC – wonder who’s signing leases here?

Nordstrom! A menswear store like in Manhattan would be awesome here. They just left SF. Amazon store? Book store and stationary/greeting card store? Those are nowhere to be found in Brickell. The opportunities are limitless in this spot.

I meant more for actual office space, but I see you point! I’m also wondering if there’ll be a hotel component – would fit nicely in the west side of the tower that looks like a smaller building attached (with the trees)

Thanks! Office space hmmm…

We almost got JetBlue to move to Miami. Spotify had a fun work culture in NYC and would fit in Miami. Maybe an NFL level national sports club. A large fashion house like VF Sportswear. Tech is big too. Pharma, we will see. Why not entertainment? Hello Netflix! 🏗️ 🏙️

NFL is irrelevant in miami.

How about AmerisourceBergen?

VF is low tier. Maybe Randa from Chicago, if they decide to merge with Perry Ellis International again, which is based on Doral and could move downtown?

Fashion companies should look into the new garment/jewelry district downtown.

Why Nordstrom is leaving SF?

Clarification: San Francisco, not South Florida. Some say crime in San Fran, others say all the workers who went remote (probably to Miami).

Nordstrom says they are leaving San Francisco because the dynamics have changed.
Whole Foods says they are leaving San Francisco because they cannot ensure the safety of their workers in Downtown San Francisco.

Because California.

Maybe a U.S. branch of Harrod’s, which was floated during BCC’s construction?

How are they building a 2600 Underground parking garage? Isn’t Brickell like 2 feet above sea level?

Have you been to Brickell City Centre? The marvel of modern engineering has parking several floors under ground with a grand escalators that rises into the beautiful central square.

Whatever happened to the great design of buildings for Miami from the 80’s and before. There is no creativity now. Miami use to have some really cool designs. Now everything is so boring and doesn’t compliment the Miami skyline.

While I agree with you, this building here is beautiful.

I filed a permit to file a permit. It’s a permit to ask for a permit. The permit is to conduct a study of another study which studied all Miami-Dade studies about permit filings to issue permits.

Anyone worried about overbuilding of office space in the virtual world where a few analysts and sales persons running AI could replace 90% of Ken Griffin’s future employees?

What a beautiful building. I do kind of wish it was built in the heart of Downtown Miami next to Southeast Financial center where that other “super tall” was supposed to be built. We need more office density in Downtown Miami.
