Demolition Permit Approved At Casa Bella Site To Make Way For 57-Story Tower

Miami’s Building Department has just approved a permit to demolish a 3-story office building at 1400 Biscayne Boulevard.

The approval was granted on January 30 (permit fees are still awaiting payment). At least some tenants have already moved out.

According to the demolition permit filing, a total of 249,978 square feet will be demolished, at an estimated cost of $800,000.

The BG Group is the demolition contractor.

Related Group and Alta Developers are planning a 57-story residential condo tower called Casa Bella by B&B Italia to replace the office building.

The developers previously filed a site plan in 2015 for three towers on the property.

A construction permit for the 312-unit Casa Bella tower was applied for in September and has been under active review in recent days. A private provider is being used to expedite review.

Don’t worry, they’ll plaster a mural on the back that looks it belongs on an elementary school in Liberty City.

Prices at this tower are really good. 2 bedrooms starting at less than $900k. Hopefully many more buildings to come in the immediate vicinity.

I love seeing the skyline growing. Manhattan vibes all around

Except that majority of Manhattan’s towers aren’t boxes with sawtooth or wavy balconies, and have articulation, spires, and/or crowns.

spires and crowns are ugly, and who wants a balcony in NYC’s climate?

Who doesn’t want a balcony, regardless of where they live? Places up north still have nice spring/summer/fall weather for enjoying a balcony.

The downside- and it is not minor- is the development of the back lot that housed the mini theaters in truck trailers. It is “secret” out of sight places like that which make a city great.

This incarnation never mentioned anything beyond single tower . Is this in some aspect
wasting of prime property ?

It was first proposed as a 3 tower development when it was Auberge Biscayne…..if you google that you can see preliminary renders of what it was going to look like
