Demolition Permit Issued At Worldcenter Property Where 65-Story Tower Planned

A demolition permit has been issued at the Miami Worldcenter property where developer Naftali Group plans a 65-story tower.

The demolition permit was issued on May 17.

According to the filing, a 26,946 square foot building will be totally demolished, at an estimated cost of $80,000.

The BG Group is listed as the demolition contractor.

The building to be demolished formerly served as a sales center for the completed 60-story Paramount Miami Worldcenter.

In April, Miami’s Urban Development Review Board, voted 6-1 to recommend approval of the new 65-story tower to replace the sales center about to be demolished.

The new Arquitectonica-designed tower will include:

  • 786 residential units
  • 3,611 square feet of retail
  • 591 parking spaces in an 8-story garage

does anyone here know if Hines sold the parcel they intended to build on? …that was always a favorite rendering of mine but have not heard any news in a very long time….i still would love to see an office tower in an area referred to as “worldcenter’

Worldcenter website still shows it. Don’t see anything about it on the Hines website.

I have a feeling that the office component will be revised with the flood of new office towers coming online in the next few years, including: 830 Brickell, One Brickell Centre, and Citadel’s future HQ. Not to mention One Bayfront Plaza (eventually) so Hines may very well expand residential and hotel or sell, time will tell…

I would hope World Trade Center of the Americas comes back, too. Frankly, It would also be advantageous to see the Holiday Inn Express demolished before the Waldorf Astoria comes online.

In five years Miami World Center will be a great people hub.

Park West if growing by the minute but we need more Citibikes around and we need Biscayne Boulevard to be more pedestrian friendly. Crossing Biscayne is always a gamble with life and death.

A beautiful tower. I was curious to know what would have been the motivation of that councilor who voted against, but the majority vote prevailed, by 6 X 1.

It’s not boorish and boxy enough for Arquitectonica.

Glad 11th street is getting built up, this will help connect MWC to the other three towers being built on 11th st.

Park West Winning!

I like the look of this although it does seem like a pretty similar design to PMG’s Sentral in Brickell. Arquitectónica is the same architect for both so makes sense but I feel they should change it up a bit so it doesn’t seem like they just recycled he design.

Arquitectonica recycling designs? You must be new here. Also, there is not accent in the name.

Remember when people thought Miami World center was dead in the water?

Cover the Podiums

This parking podium boils my blood. Nobody wants to stare at a blank 60ft wall! If places in wynwood and edgewater put liner units, so should downtown!

At least it’s not a Wynwood excuse of a “mural.”

I actually really like the podium and I think it will look really nice across the street from 1000 museum’s, which has a similar perforated metal base

tiny amount of retail. With all of these units being built in that area buildings should be creating way more ground floor options

other buildings will have plenty

If it wasn’t for the curves and setback in the lower section, this would be another disappointment by Arquitectonica and for MWC.

What happened to liner units to humanize these 12 story garages. It seems ARQ gets to do whatever they please with chicken wire garage screens. Groan!
