A prominent building in Brickell will soon be completely demolished to make way for a 48-story tower.
The doomed building is on the same block as Brickell City Centre and has been painted over with murals, including one representing Miami’s soccer club.
Demolition plans were submitted to the city on March 1, and a permit for total demolition of the existing building is pending.
According to the demolition permit, 45,564 square feet of space will be demolished at a cost of $139,698.
BG Group is the demolition contractor.
Gazit Horizons, an Israeli company, owns the property.
The company told investors in a December 2020 presentation that it is evaluating several options to take advantage of the 48 story height permitted on the property.
A mixed-use project called Brickell Gateway is planned with commercial, office, hotel and residential all possibilities.
