Demolition Permit Pending For Brickell Gateway Site Where 48-Story Tower Planned

A prominent building in Brickell will soon be completely demolished to make way for a 48-story tower.

The doomed building is on the same block as Brickell City Centre and has been painted over with murals, including one representing Miami’s soccer club.

Demolition plans were submitted to the city on March 1, and a permit for total demolition of the existing building is pending.

According to the demolition permit, 45,564 square feet of space will be demolished at a cost of $139,698.

BG Group is the demolition contractor.

Gazit Horizons, an Israeli company, owns the property.

The company told investors in a December 2020 presentation that it is evaluating several options to take advantage of the 48 story height permitted on the property.

A mixed-use project called Brickell Gateway is planned with commercial, office, hotel and residential all possibilities.

So that rendering is most likely not going to be the final one

I don’t know why it wouldn’t, the design of this building fits in Brickell.

I agree. The design makes the building look interesting. The facade has a lot of different patterns and materials along with the bump outs. The set back that rises above the base on columns make it look like it’s floating. It’s not a great design but it is good. If you look at that first photo it’s the only one that stands out. I hope they build it and hopefully taller.

In other words, it’s an ugly clusterf**k that fits more in Wynwood than Brickell.

If the design is not great, how can you say it’s good. IF it’s not great why build it. Does it make economic sense to build it or is this another wet dream.

So what? After a certain amount of time, don’t people understand what renderings are, their purpose, and that they are approximate representations?

“Most likely” is not the phrase. That rendering is not going to be the final one. 100% certain. So what?

Very old renders but hope they keep the general idea of what was proposed. Nice addition Brickell!

I like this building’s design.

“All possibilities” means flip flop in 5 to 7 years time. Which means we’ll have a chain link fence and empty lot for another generation. Pitiful

Can they just PLEASE expand the sidewalk around this block? I’ve seen wider ones in suburbia.

So many areas near here where barely one person can fit on the sidewalk at a time, let alone two.

And most of the time, all you’ll see is one person every five or ten minutes walking on those same sidewalks.

We all want it to be over. However keep in mind that there are diseases and viruses out there that kill young and old. The people that are susceptible to these diseases want only one thing. A solution. Confidence is great but nobody is immortal.

It’s not over until the fat lady signs! But if we don’t show discipline and fallow CDC guidance, the fat lady is going to be intubated and die!

Yes, I like this building, but POLO is right. Just look at how tall Brickell Heights and SLS Lux are vs. Solitair, and they in reality have the same height. Rise is also about the same height compared to Solitair, yet in the render it looks like it’s 10 stories taller than Solitair.

The existing building used to have a government office like Social Security or something like that, and there were also some other sketchy tenants including a low-key rub & tug shop, aka “massage studio.” Too bad there won’t be a happy ending for the building!

Start the first study for creating a West Brickell loop of the Metromover. That way, we’ll break ground after the 10th study 30 years from now.

Okay, I get people wanted a Wynwood and Design District extension with the lack of transit access in the area while alternative opportunities exist with existing infrastructure, but when you literally have both Metrorail and Metromover five minutes away?

Why do some developers, waste excellent locations to built a small tower, while they could build double its size. So. I see with Melo.

Whoever designed that Miami soccer club logo forgot the what country the city in question is located and the language spoken. Worse than the old Miami Marlins logo. No wonder they don’t have any stadium yet.

Anonymous

Have you ever been to Miami? It’s the capital of Latin America for a reason. Why would the logo not reflect the unique character of the city?

You don’t need to support any terror group to agree that Israel is responsible for occupying a population.. if you were, in any way, globally intelligent and educated, you would know that many eastern “Muslim” countries are very pro USA. I misted as an internal inviter to muffle eastern countries can tell you this.. I’ve made a fortune in the kingdom of Jordan and would’ve never reached my level of success without the support of their people. Unfortunately, people like you will never understand the world outside the USA as you’re probably one of those whom have never left this country. Sad but it’s not your fault for lack of education..
