Contractors have begun demolishing a large office building at 1400 Biscayne to make way for the 57-story Casa Bella Residences tower, according to Ryan RC Rea.
The older 3-story office and retail building now being demolished includes a total of 249,978 square feet, county records show.
Developers are nearing approval to obtain permits to begin construction work on the new tower, with recent progress with the FAA and DERM.
On March 8, the FAA issued approval for Casa Bella to have a permanent tower height of 638 feet above ground, or 648 feet above sea level.
Construction drawings submitted to DERM in late February show that the Casa Bella tower at 1400 Biscayne is part of Phase 1, with a rendering showing two additional towers.
A full construction permit for the 57-story tower from Miami’s Building Department is continuing to move through the approval process this month, with Coastal Construction listed as the contractor.
