Demolition Underway At 57-Story Casa Bella Site

Contractors have begun demolishing a large office building at 1400 Biscayne to make way for the 57-story Casa Bella Residences tower, according to Ryan RC Rea.

The older 3-story office and retail building now being demolished includes a total of 249,978 square feet, county records show.

Developers are nearing approval to obtain permits to begin construction work on the new tower, with recent progress with the FAA and DERM.

On March 8, the FAA issued approval for Casa Bella to have a permanent tower height of 638 feet above ground, or 648 feet above sea level.

Construction drawings submitted to DERM in late February show that the Casa Bella tower at 1400 Biscayne is part of Phase 1, with a rendering showing two additional towers.

A full construction permit for the 57-story tower from Miami’s Building Department is continuing to move through the approval process this month, with Coastal Construction listed as the contractor.

Soil testing or well drilling also appears to be underway at the site:

Doesn’t the Omni already have a hotel over it and a Metromover connection, except the mall itself has been closed for 23 years?

Sad when three boxes with wavy balconies Related/Arquitectonica look better than their blobs right at the Miami River and Brickell Avenue.

Biscayne Blvd in this area is eventually just going to be a parking lot. Love the area but pretty soon driving here will be like Times Square lol.

Thank God, this area has more surface parking lots than anywhere else in the city.

What does that have to do with anything? They’re demolishing an existing structure…

Not the point.

Yes it does. It has nothing to do with the article

Surface parking lots are the worst. They are ugly relics of the past and crime ridden.

They didn’t even bother to finish painting that building. You can see at the top where the stucco is showing through.
