Demolition Underway At Site Where 40-Story Mandala Hotel Planned

Across from the Resorts World Miami property, demolition is now underway to make way for a hotel tower.

Mandala Holdings is planning to build a 40-story hotel designed by architect Allan Shulman. It will include 270 rooms.

To clear the site, contractor Thunder Demolition applied for a demolition permit in early May. The permit states that a 4,457 square-foot building is being demolished at a cost of $21,000.

A construction permit to begin building the new hotel has not been applied for yet.

Beautiful building. This is the type of what the future designs of new buildings in Miami should look like.

At least maybe something in the future will also include the adjacent crummy one-story residence, and look better next to the beautiful church. I like the shape of this tower, but the cladding and grey lower levels are just awful.

I lived there for 11 years always with the promise that one day the area would get better. Although I have since moved to Brickell I do wish this area can become all it can be. I am not a gambler but I would be thrilled if Genting would manage to get it done too.

Edgewater keeps growing and getting better as a neighborhood… this is a nice addition to existing hotels on N. Bayshore Dr.

I heard members of Genting were touring Venetia to think about buying up units to eventually get the majority of the board to buy everyone out.
