Developer Applies For Construction Permit & FAA Approval To Build 39-Story Downtown Miami Tower

A developer has just applied for a construction permit to begin building a 39-story downtown Miami Tower without a parking garage.

The project was also just submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration for approval.

District 225 is proposed to rise 39 stories, according to the construction permit filing on November 15.

The full plans have not yet been uploaded, so it isn’t yet under review by the Building Department.

Craft Construction is listed as the contractor.

Separately, the project was submitted to the FAA on November 5.

The tower is proposed to rise 426 feet above ground, or 437 feet above sea level, the FAA application states.

Earlier this month, developer Related Group said that 87% of the project’s 343 units had been pre-sold.

A demolition permit for the site was activated last month.

This is a classy looking tower and will really help clean up that corner. MDC doesn’t do shit for the pedestrian landscape so thankfully we have some developments in the area that will help improve conditions.

MDC acquired that old court house and hasn’t done nothing with it and wants that firestation as well. They also have a empty lot where loft III should of been. theyre a slumlord like mana

Yeah and they don’t take care of what they already own very well. Their properties are borderline dilapidated and falling apart. It’s unfortunate, as they take up a really large chunk of downtown.

Why does a community College have such a prominent real estate presence in downtown Miami?

Anonymous

Because it was there before us.

By claiming they are invested in the community when all they’ve ever done are book shows in a parking lot.

Providing a college education for a fraction of what a private institution like Nova Southeastern charges is called investing in the community. No idea what you consider investing in the community to be–would hosting a break dance competition work for you?

It would be nice if the partnered with a major university to occupy some of their space for a real downtown university campus. I think the the school and companies in the downtown area can utilize and invest in for research and development!

It would be nice if they sold ever parking lot on prime real estate and the Federal Building, Freedom Tower on condition they are preserved, and used that money for a campus master plan focused on rebuilding their awful main campus into a vertical tower with FIU piggybacked onto MDC. It would also facilitate more demand for a Metrorail extension west to FIU’s main campus.

Clearly you are not familiar with MDC’s partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology

I wish the federal buildings would remove those barricades and replace them with bollards. They’re eyesores.

I still can’t believe why these buildings require FAA approval. This project is 436 feet, and is two blocks EAST of the 800-foot megaprojects already approved adjacent to government center. It’s ridiculous that a building almost half as tall, closer to the ocean, even needs FAA approval at all.

39 Floors only? Are we becoming the next Fort Lauderdale?

Garbage Lauderdale and garbage Palm Beach can’t compete with Miami’s lifestyle!

We’re not worthy of the Arquitectonica and Kobi Karp duopoly of identical ugly box towers. Even some towers up here designed by them are clearly recycled crap from some stale Miami proposals.
