Developer Files Plans For 5-Star Edition Hotel & Residences Fort Lauderdale

Plans have been filed for The Edition Hotel & Residences in Fort Lauderdale.

The Edition is a Marriott brand and will be a five-star hotel, according to a letter from the developer.

A rooftop bar, restaurant and pool is planned

The tower will rise 23 stories, or 325 feet (at the highest point of an architectural feature) and include:

  • 176 hotel keys (levels 6 thru 16)
  • 25 residential units (levels 17 thru 22)
  • Amenities (gym, pool deck, restaurant, lobby, conference rooms) (levels 2-5, roof)
  • 2,330 square feet ground floor retail, along with business/conference on levels 2,3
  • 195 parking spaces (including 134 in the cellar and 61 ground floor, mezzanine, and second floor spaces)

ODA of New York and Adache Group of Fort Lauderdale are the architects.

Location Ventures is the developer.

The project was scheduled for review by the Fort Lauderdale Development Review Committee on February 14.

Anything good for FTL and WPB is good for the greater Miami area. I’m so excited to see what South Florida becomes in the next decades.

Wow… a five star not directly on A1A… I wonder if they bought the air rights of the buildings in front if not the views will eventually be blocked

pretty sure those buildings Infront of the proposed hotel have some sort of historic element to them and can not be built upon. I know because I tried to buy them at one point.

Another ODA design – beautiful too. I’m not sure if they have a deal with the city or what, all of these beautiful proposals have been from ODA. Good going Fort Lauderdale, future is looking bright!

You’ll get downvoted to hell because all the commenters on this site have fragile ego’s, but yeah, Lauderdale is getting incredible proposals lately.

No you’re right. I may rent my place and move to Ft. Lauderdale if the City and County don’t attract more like this in Miami, especially on the western side of Brickell and Riverside.

Downtown Fort Lauderdale is beautiful. Really nice to have a completed Riverwalk as well. It will be decades before Miami gets that together.

The FTL river walk really is amazing

all the buildings in fort Lauderdale are a lot cooler than the ones in Miami ?. first of all there are a lot of buildings to compare. fort Lauderdale does n’t have the beautiful historic buildings that Miami has in its downtown or the beautiful art deco buildings in SoBe .Miami has lots of nice buildings in Brickell that are not in the front row of the skyline. of all the new buildings proposed or under construction in fort Lauderdale I only see about 4 nice ones like 11 andrews , new river yacht club and nautica but others like 200 west broward blvd , ombelle , Dna towers , 101 se 7th st and one river point are nothing out of this world

Yes, Miami has a beautiful historic district that it treats like absolute garbage. One only needs to look at the state of the Freedom Tower and Dyer Federal Building to see how much the city of Miami cares about it’s historical architecture. Please.

Technically, the art deco buildings in SoBe are not in Miami at all.

WorldClass Miami!

Because Ft Lauderdale is working with new world class developers and architects and not their cousins who grew up in Miami? Time for a worldclass change in Miami!

I know art and architecture are subjective and everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion but IMHO this is not an attractive design. The cladding is reminiscent of Kuma’s design for the Exchange in Sydney and it’s an interesting variation of it but other than that it seems truncated almost stubby. Perhaps if it were a bit taller and tapered it would seem more elegant. And for the record, I’d feel the same way about it if the proposed design was intended for NYC, London, Tokyo, Biloxi or Fargo.

What a staggering failure of architectural style. Simply pathetic that a City would approve that design.

The owners of this website should do an April Fool’s joke, change the name of this to “The next South Florida” then post articles containing WPB, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Then let’s see how that affects votes on this website. For some reason if it’s not about Miami people get offended……

Anonymous

Maybe because the name is The Next MIAMI right now? I think it were called the Next Florida, no one would have ma issue. Maybe you should create The Next Fort Lauderdale

Anon

We’ve gone over this. TNM reports on relevant developments in the Greater Miami Area. This includes Sunny Isles, Hollywood, Aventura, FTL, etc etc……

It doesn’t matter what the f__ing website is called. It’s what the readers want. And we all want to know what new, exciting developments are happening in SE Florida. The Next Miami is just a starting point. Open up your mind and stop being so literal and narrow-minded.
