Dewatering Permit Issued By DERM At 75-Story Baccarat Residences Site

Miami Dade’s Division of Environmental Resources Management issued a Class V dewatering permit yesterday that will allow for foundation work at the Baccarat Residences site.

The permit expires on June 7, 2022. The issue date was March 7.

Here’s a summary of the project description listed on the permit:

Dewatering activities are required for the construction of foundation elements of a development located at 77 SE 5 Street, City of Miami. Water will be pumped from open excavations of several sizes located in different zones through all the working area and routed to 21,000 gallons capacity sedimentation tank(s) prior to be discharged into four (4) temporary deep dewatering wells. Sheet piles cofferdams will be installed around excavation/dewatering zones. All dewatering operations will be performed on-site. Estimation of flow rates fluctuates between 226 to 1256 GPM.

John Moriarty & Associates is listed as the contractor on the permit.

Later today, a group called the Brickell Homeowners Association says it will be having a meeting with the Historic Preservation Board to discuss the archeological site.

God I hope they don’t find anything else, I mean what’s even historic in the area? There was almost nothing in Miami more than 100 years ago.

It is an ancient Tequesta fornication site.

Careful. Legend has it that Mary Brickell herself once took a dump precisely on this land.

There were people living in this part of Miami over 100 years ago before incorporation and over 1,000 years ago. This area was probably settled in BCE times, too.

The Tequesta Indians lived on the mouth of the Miami River over 2,000 years ago…..way before any European laid foot on the new world.

Debatable, when the Windover bog mummy found in Brevard County in 1982 is 7,000 years old with Caucasoid genes.

thank you!!! I don’t get it with these people, they make an arguement of the city not having any history while talking about about archeological findings, or I am not following here.
I hope they keep finding stuffs and that all parties involved do their best to preserve it and make it available to our community and visitors. whether it is at the site, miami history museum or frost museum, I don’t care, but it deserves respect.

If it were something actually important, the sure. The sad thing is that it is probably not anything with historical value and just some garbage.

The Brickell Homeowners Association wants a doggie park on site instead of the towers!

They’re wanting a statue or something to commemorate the site. They can fuck off.

Architecture still sucks and should be at least on par with Cipriani Residences for the location.

pretty building. It isn’t just a rectangle.

Amen! A week in the stockade should be required for any “lux” building shaped like a saltine box.

Still jagged and unrefined. Curves would have been nicer.

sorry but it isn’t ” F iconic”, not a “Gamechanger”.
first, the game is always the same – clear lot, build a building. What could change that? Just another stupid catch phrase that realtors etc love to use incorrectly…. just like ‘Ton on light”, there is no measurement in weight form for light.
