Dezer’s ‘Town For Millennials’ Will Begin Construction In 2021

Gil Dezer intends to begin construction on a town for millennials in 2021, his representatives told the Biscayne Times.

North Miami Beach up-zoned the Intracoastal Mall property in 2015, allowing for up to 2,000 units along with 2.5 million square feet of nonresidential space, with 495-foot building heights. As part of the deal, Dezer will be required to build new roads.

A city official says that the developer is negotiating a water taxi stop at the property. A high-speed service to downtown is said to be impossible however, due to manatee and sea grass zones.

The developer is also working on the possibility of adding a new canal into the property, to make it more waterfront.

Zyscovich is doing planning for the project.

No transit, no beach, no high-speed water taxi…

By 2021 the oldest Millennials will be in their 40’s. So this project will be geared to middle aged people, sounds about right.

Don’t like the area. You can keep it.
They will be tied to a car. Car oriented communities are not for me.

If they start this in ’21, nobody will own a car by the time this is completed

No millennial’s are gonna live in an area with no public transit and inaccessibility to nightlife and the like

Perhaps millenials care less about transit than we think. After all, Miami ranks high among cities that millenials are moving to and it has little transportation infrastructure.

As long as they keep duffys in place…

Ale House just closed down too. I don’t prefer duffies but yeah would be sad to see them go too and have no options for food/sports events like this.

I guess we’re assuming all millennials will be poor. Ew.

Wow! Manatees and sea grass as reasons for no high speed taxi. Why don’t they use row boats then. Its safe for the environment and should create a lot of new jobs.

Are you really advocating against manatees? Despicable.
