The Miami Dolphins have submitted plans for spires that will rise above their stadium, supporting a new canopy.
The plans were submitted to federal aviation officials for review last week. They show that four spires will rise above the stadium, each at a height of 430 feet above ground.
Earlier renderings of the stadium had shown a plan with up to eight spires.
Renovation work at the stadium, including a reconfiguration of seating, is already underway. Work on the spires is slated to begin in August, according to a schedule submitted, while the canopy installation will begin at the conclusion of this year’s NFL season.
