Downtown Miami Appears To Be Destroyed In A New Movie Set In 2051

The Miami skyline serves as the backdrop for a futuristic film that takes place in 2051 that is set to debut this summer.

The sci-fi film starts Chris Pratt and appears to show downtown Miami destroyed in a war between aliens and humans.

The movie had been set to be released in theaters on December 25, 2020, but will instead be released through Amazon Prime an July 2, 2021 due to the pandemic.

Amazon was reportedly set to pay $200 million for the rights to the film.

This comment wins. Give him a break. By then, he would have rehabed some old building into a mediocre, dated use then put out articles calling himself a visionary developer.

Cool. Hopefully, as Hollywood becomes more familiar with Miami, they can stop referring to Downtown and Brickell as S. Beach. I’m looking at you Burn Notice. Also, ending the ridiculousness of having a car driving on Ocean Drive then 1 second later on Biscayne Blvd then back on Ocean.

Good luck with that. Films set in NYC are full of impossible chases.

Only out of towners or new comers say “South Beach.” Us folks who have been living in Miami or have known the place for at least forty years and over say “Miami Beach.” Now if someone say they live on Miami Beach and they’re asked where and they say 40th and Collins, we automatically know where they live.. to us, they don’t have to say South Beach.

locals say “the beach”

Sure.. and that’s if you’re talking to someone who knows what you mean. I’ve lived in other states where I had to explain to them that there is no such place named “south beach” and it’s really all “Miami Beach.” But most of time I let them run around thinking they know what they’re talking about.

I mean I describe the touristy area around Ocean Drive as South Beach. I lived at 57th and Collins for a bit too and referred to it as Mid Beach if anyone wanted to know something more specific than just the beach

Anonymous

Yeah.. but for people that actually have been living on Miami Beach for decades, all you have to say is “the beach!”

Yes I got sick of explaining to Britpals in UK watching the TV News in April that the swarms of lowclass car jumpers were on one section of Ocean Drive. NOT over in Miami.

Michael Bay lives on Miami Beach. Note that all my friends who live on Miami Beach (south of 42st) NEVER say they live in South Beach. They all live on Miami Beach. South Beach is now a negative.

Damn Hollywood always destroying amazing cities😂 See it like this though, they rarely show crappy cities being burned down so it’s a sign that Miami is on the map with all major cities they fake-destroy like Rome, Tokyo, NYC and so forth. I need to watch this movie😊

When you get destroyed by Aliens, giant lizards or a massive gorilla you are in the big leagues 🤣

The directors of this movie should’ve waited for the new span of the now being built “land bridge.” The movie could’ve shown aliens with a giant spider destroying downtown Miami and spent very little money for the effects.

I feel like San Fran always gets hit hard with the destruction

Well, it was destroyed once and will most likely happen again. Just because a major 8.0+ Earthquake in California hasn’t happened in the past 100 years doesn’t mean that it won’t strike again. I pray it doesn’t happen anytime soon as the loss of life would be horrific, but will the crumbling infrastructure that plagues most of California I am not very optimistic that the residents of the Golden State are prepared for the inevitable major quake.

Just as it’s starting to look really nice, Aliens destroy Miami.

United States Space Force

I was kinda wondering why I see United States Air Force Jets fighting space aliens instead of whatever the United States Space Force use to fight them in this movie.

The future has always envisioned jets that can take off to space. Unfortunately, instead we get TikTok and eating bugs.

So finally Miami made it in Hollywood! Its always either NY or LA getting destroyed in every disaster flick. This means our city has arrived.

Miami and actually Florida doesn’t give film makers the tax breaks that others like New Orleans LA or Atlanta GA do. That’s why producers skip Miami and you see a lot of movies filmed in other cities.

Anonymous

Not only do they want tax breaks they also want the right to shut down major roads and arteries to film their scenes. They claim it brings back money to the economy but unfortunately Miami doesn’t have a movie infrastructure down here either ( an army of wardrobe designers, stylist, make up artist, actors, directors, studios, special effects staging etc etc.) And at this point with Georgia already heavily invested and committed, I don’t see it happening.

Homestead AFB doesn’t have F-22’s. But still a good point.

Ha!, they have to make fake movies where aliens destroy the Capitol building in Washington DC, but on TV we get to see real Trump Storm Troopers destroying the Capitol building in Washington DC while killing policemen who were there to protect it!

I’ve lived in miami all my life.
Miami beach is the general term and proper city name… “South beach” is used when you reference the southern most part by the docks where the cruise ships come thru..
Other wise it’s normandy, haul over, north miami beach, i have never in all my life heard anyone say “mid beach”
South point, south beach, miami beach, haul over, north miami beach,el farrito, key biscayne or just “the beach”
When actual residents say let’s go to the beach! It’s a general term, they’ll either go to key biscayne where you once use to drive into and use your car for music and what not now it’s changed. I just find it amusing how those who don’t live in miami try to talk about miami.

What’s an outing is how spoopy many south florideans who have lived here all their lives still have absolutely no fucking clue as to where they’re going. This the no turn signals, bad drivers, and idiots making wrong turns. Btw way when you drive and you make a turn your by law supposed to keep the lane you were in left to left not a left turn to right far lane so when another car is turning into the same street you have no right to honk or get angry cause another car made the same turn nd stoped you from going from turning right or left lane to the wrong lane…
