Downtown Miami Fountain Is Now On, With 500 Lights & 800 Water Jets

The large fountain at Bayfront Park has been turned on following extensive construction.

Renovation of the fountain cost $5.5 million, according to Axios. It will additionally cost an estimated $20,000 to $30,000 per month to operate, the report said.

The fountain now features extensive upgrades compared to when it originally opened in 1990.

There are over 500 lights, 800 water jets, and a central water screen that projects images and videos, according to Bayfront Park’s social media account.

The original design created by Japanese-American architect Isamu Noguchi has been preserved.

Operation of the fountain only lasted for a short time after it’s 1990 opening. After a long closure, it was briefly converted to a base for hot air balloon rides in 2007.

Downtown is looking like a true downtown, with parks, entertainment venues, restaurants, bars (lots more to come), a college and now an amazing fountain!! Once the bridge arches will be completed and the supertalls will be up, the whole downtown will beat any other major city!!

This video from above looks amazing. But in reality there is a 4′ concrete wall around the whole fountain and then a 6 foot tall metal fence.

On Monday Carollo requested a $400,000 NO BID contract for flowers around the fountain. I guess his wife now must own a landscape company! In addition, he wants to add advertising on the water screen…..Tacky, Corrup, Joe,

Hope to see one like this in Brickell at Southside Park

Brickell’s large/waterfront park is effectively location-deferred slightly down to Alice Wainwright Park. Southside Park isn’t quite big enough to be a grand park. Miami doesn’t have a Central Park partially because it’s more water focused.
