Former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz has been added to Eastern Air Lines Group’s board of directors.
Diaz joins a board that includes Florida Panthers owners Vincent Viola and Douglas Cifu, who provided an equity investment and line of credit to the startup earlier this year.
Eastern also responded last week to several inquiries from the DOT. The airline’s first plane is scheduled to arrive in Miami in less than a month, but federal officials still haven’t granted approval to begin service.
The company has formed several subsidiaries, including ‘Eastern Shuttle’ and ‘Eastern Express.’ Eastern’s frequent flyer program will be called ‘LatinOnePass’ or ‘LatinOne.’
