Emilio Estefan Designing Theater At Latin American Art Museum

A 1,600-seat theater at Gary Nader’s Latin American Art Museum is being designed by Emilio Estefan, Nader told Miami Magazine.

Nader told the magazine that he is optimistic that he will emerge victorious in a bidding process that includes three other competitors. He expects the museum to open in 2019.

Condos in the Fernando Romero-designed towers will range in price from $1.2 million to $14 million and are designed to appeal to collectors, with features such as 12-foot ceilings.

No kidding. What a move! Pandering to the Cuban community to an educational institutions land for luxury condos is brilliant!
I hope the college leadership doesn’t fall for that.
This building should have micro apartments for students, a hotel with plenty of meeting spaces, office spaces for industry incubators, the performance space, and the museum. The Oppenheim plan has all that….it has SUBSTANCE as well as style.

I’m loving all the confidence coming out of some of these bidders. I’m wondering how tall the Fernando Romero-designed towers are going to be. The area is cleared for 1000 ft…But I’m guessing it might be around 500-650 ft. from looking at past renderings.

Is Emilio an architect?

No, Emilio is not an architect but his name gives the project ‘panache’. Let’s remember Emilio is also using this same architect for his project near adrienne arsht center.

of course he is not an architect nor a designer…he is a celebrity and in Miami, that’s really a Brand that people want to follow. He will select what his hired designers come up with and they will brand it as…”from the Creativity of Emilio Estefan…blah, blah, blah…to which people will want to be associated with and will pay a premium for the association …etc.
Got it?

I agree, but so what? As long as the museum gets built, who cares who throws whose name around! I’d love to see 10 more museums get built.

All 4 proposals include the museum. The Nader plan requires pre-sales of luxury condos in order to be built.
