FAA Approves Excel Miami’s Cranes & Permanent Height

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a positive determination on the proposed 26-story Excel Miami residential development.

The FAA sent its determination letter on August 3.

Excel Miami’s proposed permanent height of 316 feet above ground, or 327 feet above sea level does not pose a hazard to air navigation, the FAA said.

Two temporary construction cranes proposed at 560 feet above ground, or 570 and 571 feet above sea level also are not a hazard, the agency wrote. They are estimated to be in place for 18 months.

A permit application for vertical construction of the buildings was submitted to Miami’s Building Department in February, records show. Suffolk Construction is listed as the contractor.

According to the Building Permit filing, the project includes 427 multi-family rental units, 1205 square feet of office/bank/financial institution space, and four floors of parking.

A total demolition permit for the property also appears to be nearing approval.

Good addition to an growing area, still plenty of empty lots.

I like empty lots. We don’t need buildings too close each other. Build west.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually like this project for the area.
Thank God for this project. So much wasteland around what is supposed to be our Arts and Entertainment district.

FAA approvals= A complete scam. Buildings literally on both sides are taller.

What is so hard to understand about FAA approvals for people? No – the FAA can’t just look at the building next door and eyeball it.

Yes they can. It’s not hard at all to understand. Clearly you don’t! And I understand perfectly. It’s about height. It’s simple, create a map that gives maximum heights and make sure the plans don’t exceed that during the permit approval process.
