A religious body is expected to decide this spring on a development deal that would bring an 80-story condo tower to a Brickell Avenue church property, according to the Herald.
However, a settlement could happen sooner to allow the deal to move forward, an opponent of the deal said.
The First Miami Presbyterian Church approved a $240 million deal with developers 13th Floor Investments and Key International to redevelop a surface parking lot and school with a potential supertall tower.
However, one member of the church filed a complaint over the deal with the religious body that oversees the church.
In a virtual hearing last week held by the Synod of the South Atlantic PJC, the complainant was determined to have standing to file the complaint, and allowed it to move forward to another hearing scheduled in spring.
However, the complainant told the Herald that she wants to explore a possible settlement before the spring hearing.
The Presbytery of Tropical Florida, which manages the church, remains determined to close the deal, the report said.
