FIFA Moving Over 100 Employees From Switzerland To Miami

FIFA is relocating over 100 employees from Switzerland to Miami.

FIFA’s entire legal department will be relocating here, as well as audit, compliance and risk management teams, according to the AP.

The move is expected to be complete by August 2024

FIFA has already leased 60,000 square foot of office space at 396 Alhambra in Coral Gables. Those offices opened last month.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is also expected to relocate to Miami ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will see Miami hosting up to 5 games, according to Bloomberg.

Miami has also bid to host the World Cup International Broadcast Center, Media Center and FanFest, according to the Herald.

FIFA’s governing body for the region known as Concacaf moved its headquarters to downtown Miami in 2018, with over 50 employees at 3 MiamiCentral.

Let me give you egocentrics a bit of data: Football is played in every country of the world. It’s even an Olympic event. The World Cup is by far the biggest sports event in the world. Fake 🏈 is ONLY played in the U.S. and somewhat Canada. Moreover, the name is improperly given as the ball is 95% played with the hands. No hard feelings though. Just a slight advice: Travel abroad and expand your horizons.

Abroad doesn’t matter. NFL is king in Miami and America.

Mad Dash, you really don’t have a sense of humor do you?

It’s true

While this is an exaggeration American Football is the dominate sport in the US and will be for a long time. Futbol might be really popular in Miami and the rest of the world but outside of a few million dedicated fans the rest of the the US couldn’t care less. All you have to do is look at viewership and gambling to confirm that.

There’s been a lot of work done for a long time now to try and popularize futbol from both a viewership and playing perspective. It ain’t working. A lot of it is probably due to the fact that we suck at it compared to a lot of other countries. Which means no big money or super stars to strive to be like or pull for. Also we invented American football, baseball, and basketball so that likely plays a role too.

Them’s the facts. It’s not an insult to futbol fans but it is what it is.

It still is all about the NFL and College Football in South Florida, except for the like 36 Venezuelans in Doral that still cling to their old country’s culture.

Have you been smoking crack rock? NFL Football dominates Miami and everywhere else north of Havana. Even in el 305.

^^have you been smoking crack rock? Everywhere are Dolphins jerseys (and Jets and Pats and Giants). Nobody even here in El Miamio wears soccer jerseys.

Anonymous

This is patently false. I see Inter Miami jerseys EVERYWHERE, including all across Europe and South America, where I’ve been traveling lately. On the other hand, I hardly ever see Dolphins jerseys and when I do, it’s almost always in Broward County.

Venezuelans play baseball, like Dominicans, they’ve never been into soccer. Maybe learn about other cultures first before making these broad statements.

The Vennies jump up and down at Doral bars celebrating the one goal scored after watching 3 hours of soccer game “action”. All 36 of them. Everyone else is watching NFL or College football.

Give it up. Miami is not an American football city and it never will be.

Soccer is BORING! Even golf is more entertaining because at least the ball gets closer to the hole. They get real close to the goal, and then kick it closer to the opposing team for “muh strategy.” X penalties later and 15 minutes of extended time, 1-0.

Anonymous

Soccer is celebrated by 130lb manlets who are too small and weak to play a real sport like football.

Miami’s economy is becoming more and more diversified. This is how you build a city with lasting wealth and upward mobility. Next step is to fund a respected Public University so the talent stays in the city and its residents can afford it.

And great public transportation (not buses!). And amazing parks. And beautiful theaters. And magnificent museums. And it’s never gonna happen under this administration.

sam

We definitely need parks. Miami needs to buy some land with all of the increased revenue from property taxes and then create parks.

Anonymous

Living in the land of make belief is nice. When the tax base goes up so does the cost of buying land for eminent domain. The two cancel each other out.

Anonymous

parks blahblahblah, already got plenty of them. Reduce the tax rate instead of blowing money on even more parks.

What is the matter with busses?

Anonymous

Not a viable solution for transit enough residents will use to take cars off the road for an impact on traffic.

Neither is Metromover for that matter.

says who? People from the North East and Europe? Only one city in the North East has the same density as Miami – NYC. And Miami is much more diverse in terms of its density, some area are very dense like Brickell and other are sparse like Kendall.

FIU ranks 4th in the nation. Proud panther here, FIU harbors local talent with a world class education unlike UMiami which leeches off of Jersey trust fund babies.

4th in the nation for WHAT? Proximity to a Pollo Tropical?

Anonymous

SOOO TRUE!!!
I went to UF and UMiami for Grad School. UMiami was all the rich rejects from Ivy League schools.

Avg SAT score for accepted students at UM: 1310-1480
Avg SAT score for accepted students at FIU: 1060-1240

FIU is a greater VALUE when you compare tuition costs to grad salary prospects, but as far as straight academics go, let’s wake up to reality here.

Anonymous

Not to mention culture. UM has people from all over the country (though I agree the NE trust fund babies do sometimes outnumber the rest of us). FIU, meanwhile, has people from all over… Miami-Dade.

If Miami soccer lasts another 3 years it’ll be a miracle. Miami had the lowest MLS attendance last year. And a new stadium won’t change that (just like it didn’t help the Marlins). They’re gonna disappear like the Miami Fusion did (remember them?).

To tell the T

Inter Miami better get their act together and build the stadium quickly. Ever since they announced training and warm up games would be held in Broward, lots of players have purchased homes in Broward. The county should have kept all training here in Miami Dade.

Antonio

Why does it matter if they live in Broward?

Anon

Broward is cheaper than Miami Dade.

And the Stadium to be finish on 2016 would only hold 22,000 people. So It will be mostly offices, mall, hotel, etc..
