First 34-Story Art Plaza Tower Tops Off In Just Ten Months

Art Plaza’s first tower has topped off at 34 stories in a remarkably short time.

The roof of the east tower was poured yesterday, according to shell contractor L&R Structural. It took less than 10 months, L&R said.

Piling equipment was first spotted on the site in late November 2017, with foundation pour and crane installation in March 2018.

By comparison, Aston Martin Residences broke ground in October 2017 and still isn’t out of the ground, with foundation contractors now regularly working into the night (although it is a much taller and more complex project). Ritz Carlton Residences in Sunny Isles (also much taller and more complex) topped off this week after breaking ground in June 2016 – two and a half years ago.

Across the street, Melo completed the twin-tower Square Station project in a similarly short time frame, topping off in under a year. Groundbreaking there took place in October 2016, with top off in September 2017. Move-ins began in spring 2018, and the towers were 75% leased by August.

When complete, Art Plaza will include 655 apartments in twin 34-story towers.

This building look like a great addition to the Area, i believe they have another one i few blocks down coming up as well, they have fully transformed this area for good, and the best thing is that all three of these rentals are sitting literally next to a metro mover station. Way to go Melo!!!!!!

the two towers that they are proposing next to Okhan look great!! I don’t understand all the bashing! These are great “RENTAL” additions to that forsaken area, i wonder if you rather have 600 dollars the square feet instead!!?? Give me nice rental towers and let the locals move into downtown!!!

Sofia I agree with you 100%!! Not every Tower can be Okhan!! there are vast differences between rentals and condos “its all about the MONEY”, they buildings fill a great void that downtown have had for many years, Thanks to buildings such as these locals can afford living in this area. Go Melo all the way!!!

The school board is trying to sell the land so there will be a taller tower blocking the views eventually.

Beside dumping cement on a car and illegally constructing during after hours…ya I would say they are building fast.

These are affordable housing rentals. They aren’t supposed to be up to a luxury standard or design. Slightly better than section 8 quality and much more expensive.

Funny how people whine about housing prices in Miami but expect to live in brickell city centre. Melo is the only private developer building affordable rentals in the urban cote.
