First Crane Installed At 427-Unit Excel Miami

Vertical construction is now underway at Excel Miami, which will have 427 apartments.

Shawmut Design and Construction, a  $2 billion national construction management firm, said on December 10 that it had broken ground on the development.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held December 9. At the time, Shawmut said a mat foundation pour would be completed in weeks, and a tower crane installed.

Photos taken January 5 by Ryan RC Rea show the crane is now in place.

Clearline Real Estate is the developer.

The groundbreaking was attended by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, Commissioner Damian Pardo , Clearline Real Estate Founder and CEO Jenny Bernell, Shawmut CEO Les Hiscoe, Shawmut head of Florida Alexis Leal, and members of the project team.

This area desperately needs more developments. I don’t care how small but these empty lots are a drag to the area between Midtown (Wynwood/Edgewater) and Downtown

Amazing to think there was once actual buildings where all these parking lots are.

As of 2007 (that’s as far as Google Earth goes back) there were 3 Single Family residences at 1550 NE Miami Pl owned by a slumlord, and several vacant lots where condemned houses used to be.

There haven’t been shops there, if ever, in a very long time.

Someone should talk him out of continuing his Botox injections for his own good.
