First Glass Installed At MiamiCentral, Brightline Starts In Months (Photos)

Contractors commenced glass installation at the SOM-designed MiamiCentral project last month.

An All Aboard Florida executive told Miami Today on April 13 that Brightline plans to begin service to MiamiCentral in August.

Service between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach will come online even sooner, with contractor station handover expected within weeks.

This is awesome….so cool to watch the transition of this neighborhood…new apartments, new restaurants, central fare food hall, Miami World Center, condo buildings (gorgeous Paramount)…it’s watching a brand new city go up within our city. Very cool and exciting!

WELL SAID! the sheer scope of this construction site is amazing. Look at the elevated tracks in those pictures! That’s really heavy stuff and theyre sitting next to metro-rail, over metro-mover, and in the middle of the city… G0 FEC!!

Anyone else think It seems pretty ambitious for them to open in August?

To open the train station? No.

They aren’t saying the tower will be complete by August.

This is not only revolutionary in our city but actually, it’s the biggest and most exciting transportation project in the county

Are you joking? Do you ever visit other cities in the US? There are dozens of bigger, better, and more interesting transportation projects. It’s a great project for Miami but it’s so stupid to make this absurd exaggeration.

Will they be making improvements to the Metro Mover, similar to what Brickell City Center did?

Yes

This project is independent of Miami-Dade Transit so there will be no improvements to Metrorail/Metromover facilities or even connections.

There might be a basic covered walkway to the government center station. The worst they do with connections, the more they are shooting themselves in the foot with stubbornness.

How about a story on the great wall of overtown?

Who cares? Gentrification is great.

The folks in overtown like the trespass so we need a wall to keep your protected group off the tracks.
