First Look At SoleMia, Including America’s Biggest Swimming Pool

SoleMia’s first two residential towers are now open, along with one of the biggest swimming pools in the world.

The man made lagoon at the center of the project totals 7 acres and is swimmable, making it by far the largest swimming pool in all of America. It may also be the largest pool in the world that isn’t sea water.

The pool is named Laguna Sole.

Two building are now open at SoleMia. Called the Shoreline, it includes two 17-story towers with 397 apartments in a building designed by Arquitectonica and Robert M. Swedroe Architects.

Eventually, SoleMia will include 12 towers, 500,00 square feet of retail and commercial space, and a 225,000 square foot University of Miami Health Center anchored around the 7-acre lagoon. Total development cost of the 184-acre community is expected to be $4 billion.

Completely awful planning by the City of North Miami. No mass transit, no bike infrastructure… just miles or roads and acres of parking lots.

And a giant fake beach/ocean with the real thing just miles away?

The number 3 and the 93 MAX bus runs on biscayne blvd. People on this site want to complain about mass transit but this is a area that doesn’t have the density for rail yet. Even a Staten Island only has one rail line in its eastern part and is far more denser than North Miami Beach.

Or City Skylines. It’ll give them experience needed for better City Planning.. *shrug* probably infinitely better than the knowledge that they currently have.

It’s a giant piece of land and everything hasn’t all been built yet. What do you expect, Interama and a monorail?

I just don’t see that pool working out 10 years down the road…. Too large and too open to the elements.
