Tree Permit Submitted For One Brickell City Centre Supertall Site

What appears to be the first construction permit connected to the proposed One Brickell City Centre Supertall tower has now been applied for.

Records show that an affiliate of developer Swire Properties applied for a permit to remove 126 trees at 700 Brickell Avenue .

The permit application was submitted to Miami’s Building Department on July 13.

There does not yet appear to be any demolition or new construction permits pending for the property. A commission vote on design changes including larger floor plates and removal of underground parking is scheduled for later this week.

Swire is partnering with Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross’s Related Companies on the 80-story tower, known as One Brickell City Centre.

On July 15, the FAA issued an approval for the tower to be built at a supertall height of 1,049 feet.

The building will have 1.6 million square feet of Class A office space, with a design by Arquitectonica.

Construction will begin in 2023.

Trees are important in an urban environment.

Hopefully they’ll save them and plant them somewhere else.

We love trees!

They could have designed around the trees, like making that big tree in the center part of an internal courtyard for the building so office workers have somewhere to go and relax and get some sun during the day.

I’m all for saving trees, but really? An internal courtyard for a 1,000-foot tower?

In smaller scale projects that is considered but you are not going to design the scheme of a 1000′ towere around a tree.

How the hell do you build a foundation for a 1000’ tall tower around a tree lol

it should be a requirements for developers to donate the trees they remove so they can be planted in another location

Depends on the tree and it’s condition. Some are to costly to move and some won’t survive a move

This building will take up two existing small buildings and will act as the center point for brickell since it will be so tall.

I feel like that building that is going to be demolished is a great looking building. I wish it could be teleported.

A crackhouse from the 1940s in Opa-Locka has more historic value than the buildings on this site.
