First Rendering Released Of Major Supertall Condo Tower In Brickell

The developers planning the Major supertall in Brickell have released the first rendering of the proposed condo tower to the New York Post.

Major is being developed by JDS, in partnership with Major Food Group.

The tower is planned to rise 82-stories, or 1,049-feet. At that height, it would be significantly taller than any existing building in Miami as of today.

It is planned to include 259 condos, along with multiple food and beverage outlets

Miami-Dade planners are currently reviewing the proposed design.

Studio Sofield is the design consultant, with ODP the architect of record.

This building will mostly block my water view, but guess what? I bought in a booming city and fully expected that. One thing I’m not gonna do is complain like the pitiful owners in SLSLux. More beautiful supertalls for our beautiful city, please!

I agree… as long as there’s action at the ground level, who cares.

The people that like their view!

Tough shit. Should have done some research before spending a half million on a non-waterfront property.

I liked Skyrise and this.

What happened to Skyrise anyway? Did it take off and rose into the sky so high until it just disappeared?

No, I actually didn’t. But I would love to see 15-20 supertall residential/office buildings in the urban core.

Office buildings? Who do you know “goes to the office” nowadays? Very rare.

Anonymous

You must be new here. There is high demand for office space in Brickell. 830 Brickell, the building blocking the view of SLSLux, is exclusively office and will become the 2nd tallest office tower in Miami.

Beautiful and ambitious. Love the warmer metals. About time we shook up the architecture in this city.

I just noticed the giant golden statues on the crown of the building. Interesting combination of a pragmatic floor plate design with Art Deco elements.

The giant Golden statues are aliens protecting Miami. LOL!

You know this building is going to look sick in movies that take place in Miami. I can just picture the camera panning over Brickell now

If they ever revive Miami Vice, it will be this building, and not the Atlantic that is featured

Very NY with the statues on top. I like it!

Very New York, but we’ll never come close to New York.

Anonymous

NYC is an older city but with time, Miami can’t surpass it. We are already getting a lot of NY’ers coming to Miami, now next would be NY companies to move here.

What building?

Anonymous

It’s called the “library.”

The “monk monastery” is probably the last public building built here with civic pride in mind. Case in point, the boring and ugly, yet costly new courthouse.

“built here with civic pride?”

I believe that out of place structure was built with tax payer money.

i laugh at Dubai for having the only unwalkable downtown in the world

spell it right

In actuality, the real downtown in Dubai is Deira, Bur Dubai and Burjuman, and it’s more walkable than most American cities. What is called downtown Dubai is where Burj Khalifa is and even though it’s not the most walking paradise due to weather and some wide roads, it’s got really wide side walks and for a section of the city that literally didn’t exist 30 years ago it’s wonderful and home to gorgeous architecture, an opera with no parking and the tallest building in the world

The only thing that could make this rendering better would be if those atrocious Four Ambassadors were missing. Please, rich developers, do something good for the community and buy out those owners!

I like this building, it doesn’t take much to bring something new and pretty, it doesn’t have to be iconic. Melo, arquitectonica, related, korbi: Take note!!!

Beautiful tower for the Brickell skyline, that podium doesn’t look very pedestrian friendly tho.

I dunno. I need better renderings. The podium looks terrible and are those gold mermaids on the roof corners? Kinda cheesy.

Don’t understand what the problem is with this building going to the height of 1100ft.

Anonymous

The airplanes with scratch the cooling towers dude! Then no AC for the building..

Anonymous

“The airplanes with scratch the cooling towers”

Um, what?

Anonymous

Stop this BS! The height limit has been cover to death on this site. There is a major airport eight miles to the west, northwest of downtown. That’s why the tower cannot be 1,100ft!

Anonymous

Covered….correction

Anonymous

So, if height limit would been 1100, 1150, or 1200 feet, you would’ve been okay with that also?

Im loving the idea of the Hive Design with these cubed balconies…. can’t tell if its a one bedroom unit or studio or 4 bedroom floor plex….. super cool design idea that would be nice if caught on in Miami type related arquitectonia condos.

Dionisio Garcia

Miami was not meant to be built like NY. There more demand for high rise buildings and the more likelihood of poverty in its vicinity. More and more neighborhoods will start to disappear and more people that can’t afford to live in that lifstyle will soon be forced out of their homes. Homes, Apt, Condos, etc…those that people paid for over 30 years will be forced to sell or else!
