Flamingo South Beach Will Be Getting A Major Renovation

Aimco is planning to renovate portions of the North and Central Towers at the massive Flamingo South Beach apartment complex.

The biggest changes are planned at the North Tower, which will be gutted and rebuilt. Larger apartments will be created by reducing unit count from 614 to 446, in order to accommodate families. Exterior facades and landscaping will also be upgraded.

At the front of the site, a plaza open to the public will be created, with shade trees and water features. Retail spaces and a restaurant with bay views will be added, and will be open to the public.

The developer will reconfigure access at the Central Tower to solve ride-sharing access as part of the rebuild. The North Tower is condo and isn’t part of the renovation.

The project is scheduled for Miami Beach Design Board Review on October 3.  Stantec is the architect.

A true mixed-use Project. Families in one tower and Porn Studios in the other…..

Wasn’t it like just renovated and expanded?

Yes but the crime and unethical management and leasing team and the criminals that live in the building haven’t change. Terrible place to live. Don’t let the renovations fool you.

Interesting… we have placed many clients at the Flamingo and for the most part they have been happy with their decision. The few complaints we have had have been from older people who did not like the many parties their “young” neighbors kept having. Not sure how families will do, I guess time will tell.

Pretty shocking to hear that any of your clients have been happy there. I cut my lease short because of the neighbors and noise (I’m 25 and would hardly call myself old). During my brief time at the Flamingo, I witnessed a shooting, a suicide and multiple drug overdoses – including drugs being used at the pool right in front of the security guards. This place is a joke and this gut reno is MUCH needed.

Hilarious, we still live here and we can’t disagree. Flamingo is a joke, perfect place for trashy people, for the proper ones – we are just counting down the days where our lease end because we do not want to pay aimco anymore money than they have already been scamming out of us.

are you serious? I lived in the Flamingo North tower for 12 years, beginning in 2000. Back then, the Flamingo was the best place in town to rent. I left after 12 years because it fast became the WORST place to rent on South Beach. not to mention that they unlawfully evicted me after I had already left my apartment. So gald I left when I did. Renters beware!!!

Adding a restaurant, bar, and other retail along Bay Rd adds to the circus atmosphere and traffic. That’s not better, that’s worse!

You can renovate whatever you want, but you cant renovate management who are big time crooks chasing residents, going every morning to the court like for breakfast, you cant renovate those ignorant unprofessional security who look like people out of the streets in uniform and you cant renovate residents who are all those bs people, drug-addicts, losers, promoters and their bimbos, prostitutes, dealers.
So whatever renovation Aimco is making – its not gonna help 😉
The best renovation possible could do Irma – just washing this building off of the earth.

THis article mistakingly states that the “North” tower is condo and will not be affected when in fact it is the South tower that is condo. The North tower will be gutted to make room for larger apartments.

for all those people who like to talk about what a great urbanist Zyscovich is just because of his stupid key biscayne bike lane/vanity project, I always point to this project as evidence that he is no great urbanist.
