Genting is preparing to build a 50-slip marina at the Resorts World site, but the process could take years.
To gain approval for the marina, Genting faces the following hurdles, according to the Herald:
- The city of Miami, which owns the bay bottom, must approve a lease or agreement for the property
- Miami-Dade County environmental regulators must approve a transfer of 42 boat slips from a third party property on the Miami River, which has never been done before
- Pass extensive environmental reviews, which could take years of study
The Miami River Commission reviewed the plan last week, and voted to endorse it.
