‘Full Speed Ahead’ For American Dream Miami Mall, Indoor Skiing Soon

America’s biggest mall continues to move towards the start of construction in Miami.

American Dream Miami is moving “full speed ahead,” a lobbyist and lawyer for developer Triple Five told the Herald. That includes the indoor skiing portion, he added.

Bids are due later this month for a state contract to extend the Turnpike, adding capacity. The county is also moving forward with a sewage project to the site.

A site plan still hasn’t been submitted to the county, but experts say a project of this magnitude takes time to design.

In total, the project will include 7.2 million square feet with towers as tall as 50 stories. It will include retail, restaurants, the world’s largest indoor ski slope, a walk-through aquarium, a skating rink, an ice-climbing wall, live theater venues for Russian ballet and Chinese acrobats and 2,000 hotel rooms.

In New York, the developer is also building American Dream Meadowlands. That project is near 85 percent completion, with opening set for September.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR RAIL! Not 5 years after this project is done and traffic is a literal catastrophe, the time is NOW!

Anonymous

don’t waste money building rail here. let them suffer in their exurban wasteland.

Anonymous

Don’t forget We are governed by a 1960s third world country Mayor

Anonymous

No.. this project doesn’t belong in this location and rail is the last thing the current residents here want! All for rail in DWNTWN but not here

Anonymous

Yeah.. why are people wanting rail in the Everglades??

Anonymous

And you know this, how?? Growth happens whether you like it or not. Now it is time to put your big boy/girl pants and accept it or move to a more secluded place.

> American Dream Meadowlands. That project is near 85 percent completion,

Construction started nearly 15 years ago.

Don’t buy those skis yet!

Anonymous

Not sure why that was left out, that project dragged and dragged.

Anonymous

Excellent news!.. can’t wait to go there.

Don’t worry, we don’t waste our time visiting a postwar shopping mall.

Anonymous

No no no!!!.. I must go because I have to have something to complain about!

Anonymous

Russian ballet (from Sunny Isles) and Chinese acrobats (from North Miami Beach) !!!!???? LMAO !!!!

Anonymous

Not very American, huh? In fact, this is the kind of mall built in a Chinese ghost city.

NYC N DA HOUSE

I’m thinking this should be less mall and more amusement park type attractions like some simulation rides to with the other entertainment offerings. South Florida already has malls up the @$$.

Afi K. James

it’s a mixture of them all.

Anonymous

50 story towers right on the skrits, thats gunna be a sight to see

Anonymous

Sawgrass mills already has this, plus tbis American dream mall has NOTHING around it and is run by a company that has failed malls

Flymia

I still don’t believe this thing is getting built any time soon. Look at how long the one in NYC has taken.

The County and State need to improve traffic here. If it actually is a realty get the Metrorail up there. Even if it does not go, NW Dade and Miami Lakes could use a station.

I am fearful this will be a large empty building one day. I think people are right it needs to be a lot about entertainment and not so much about malls. We have enough malls.

Afi K. James

malls have to evolve, this is more than just a mall now.

Anonymous

Another giant parking podium.

Anonymous

American Dream Meadowlands is in NEW JERSEY, not New York!

Anonymous

Disaster

Anonymous

So, other than that, the world is perfect?

Anonymous

If this is actually built and successful, the only good thing is it will kill Sawgrass Mills and the Dolphin Mall. I hate those places.

Anonymous

Dolphin Mall is the worst!!!

Anonymous

I don’t like them either but I wouldn’t wish death on them. But I just don’t go. They are both economic drivers for the region.

Afi K. James

I Doubt it, florida will become the mall capital of the world soon and malls have to evolve big time

Anonymous

This is my nightmare. Glad I don’t live, work, or play anywhere near it.

Anonymous

Well then, how can it be your nightmare?

Anonymous

Same here.
