Argentine architect Jorge Bernstein intends to build a geodesic dome above his newly acquired 21-acre property known as the Bertram Yacht Facility.
Bernstein paid $35.5 million for the property, which is largely vacant. In an interview, he said that he intends to lease out the buildings for income while exploring redevelopment opportunities.
The geodesic dome would create more usable space by connecting several buildings on the property, he said.
Geodesic domes have low drag coefficients and can withstand hurricanes better than their conventional counterparts, according to Wikpedia.
