Glass Balconies Being Installed At 54-Story Miami River Apartment Tower

Installation of glass balconies is now underway at the 54-story Miami River apartment tower under construction in Brickell, according to photos by Phillip Pessar.

The 645-foot tower topped off over the summer, becoming the westernmost tower in Miami to surpass the 600 foot mark.

The newly topped off tower will have 632 apartments. The first phase under construction also includes retail space, and a riverfront promenade open to the public.

There are multiple other phases planned at the development, which is known as The River District.

Eventually, developer Chetrit Group plans to build 4 million square feet of new development on the property. That includes about 1,600 residences, Class A office space, and 30,000 square feet of retail.

David Grutman of Groot Hospitality is partnering at The River District to provide restaurant and nightlife venues.

Kobi Karp is the architect.

G.T. McDonald is the contractor.

This building is now visible from Brickell Key. It highlights the westward expansion of the urban core. Glad to see it proceed to swiftly!

River District Rising!

This is the River District not Brickell 😉

It’s definitely Brickell. Everything south of the river and east of I95 is Brickell. Look at google maps and this video:

River District Rising!

It was a joke and I’m poking fun at the Brickell rose colored glasses crowd. Everything that happens in Brickell is amazing and everything else sucks mentality. You guys have said River District when it’s downtown but now that it’s on the Brickell side of the river the River District isn’t a thing 🤨

Would love it, if some of that sweet sweet commercial zoning came to the Little Havana side of the river – just saying what every Cuban from Miami is thinking. Keeping all the good zoning and opportunities for the NYC crowd and the big banks and developers.

Thanks for explaining 🙏 I’m not sure if the River District is the name of the building or the larger development…

But there’s a neighborhood called Riverside, west of I95

This will be the heart of the new river walk in Brickell, shaping development along Miami’s riverfront. As a Brickell resident, I’m beyond excited for this!

I wonder if they are still building the same elevated cross walks between the buildings

Definitely! It’ll look like a waterfront extension of Brickell City Centre, which is my favorite part of Brickell. While the City Centre is great, it sometimes feels separate with its own interests. They do an amazing job with community events, but ideally, all of Brickell would have the same quality experience, and this mega-scale development can improve connectivity.

It’s a mall closed off from the streets, what do you expect?

Brickell is truly remarkable! It’s already one of the best neighborhoods in Miami, and it’s rapidly improving thanks to exciting projects like this one.

The tower shines in the skyline, and I adore its new crown! It’s truly an artistic creation that will transform how Brickell connects along the river, opening up new spaces for Miami.

How many buildings have undertaken the project of creating a reimagined waterfront space for the public, especially in the heart of central Brickell? Miami and residents of Brickell and the Downtown riverfront enthusiastically applaud this outstanding contribution to our city!

Hello again, Brickell circlejerk squad!

Also, nice building. Certainly nowhere near the best, and if anything should be the bare minimum, and functions as a great “bookend” to Brickell.

Love approaching this building from NB i95. One of my favorite new towers in Miami! We are living in exciting times, it’s like being in NYC in the 1920s-30s and and being there to see her iconic towers rise

I know you’re not trying to compare this to the Empire State Building….

The entire facade will be covered in glass. You’re prematurely pooping in your pants.

Huh? Someone really has a personal issue. It’s one of the most glassy and impressive towers in the skyline.

OMG. I think you guys got paid to talk about this building, it is another let down, but cylindrical instead of the typical rectangular box.

This new side of Brickell is experiencing a remarkable surge in value within the core. This surge can be attributed to its modern infrastructure, strategic placement in the heart of Brickell, proximity to numerous parks, riverfront access, and convenient transportation options. Keep up incredible work!

The podium on those renderings I believe are outdated. Its no longer having liner units…just a tacky mural

Anonymous

The images are deceiving because the river facing angle is missing, which does have liner units.

Anonymous

They’re not actually giving legitimate critiques, just being competitive because it’s opening an entire new option within Brickell for Grade A development.

Anonymous

You can see the liner units from the bridge and the river, the other side will be blocked by more impressive towers
