The Seminole Hard Rock’s giant new guitar-shaped tower can already be seen for miles around, but at night, the new 450-foot hotel will be impossible to ignore, according to the Sun Sentinel.
A Hard Rock spokesperson told the paper that the Seminoles plan to install 12 giant beams of light – six on each side of the guitar – that will be visible from as far as Miami Beach and Boca Raton.
The lights will be similar to those at the Luxor casino in Las Vegas, and create an illusion that the guitar neck goes to infinity, the spokesperson said. While the lights are expected to be visible from Miami Beach, the tribe will send scouts at completion to determine exactly how far the lights can be seen.
A total of 638 hotel rooms are to be included in the new tower, which will be around 40 stories tall and outfitted with hurricane-proof glass. Another 168 rooms are being added in a seven story private cabana area.
Casino space at the resort will nearly double in size with 3,267 slot machines, 178 table games, and a new 18,000-square foot poker room. Also being added are 30 new restaurants, lounges and bars, and a completely rebuilt $100 million, 7,000-seat Hard Rock Live theater.
Construction is underway, with completion scheduled for fall 2019.
