Have Cuban Spies Infiltrated Security At Miami International Airport? County To Investigate

Miami-Dade commissioners say there are reports that Cuban spies have attempted to learn confidential security information about Miami International Airport.

Airport management doesn’t believe the reports to be credible.

Nevertheless, commissioners Esteban Bovo and Rebecca Sosa have called for an investigation, and sponsored legislation to initiate a security assessment at the airport.

The spies may be attempting to subvert or disrupt operations at the airport, the commissioners say. Security practices at Miami International Airport should be studied for vulnerabilities, they added, and a report delivered to them.

A resolution calling for the investigation was passed by the county’s Tourism and the Ports Committee last week, and the full commission will vote on the investigation next week.

President Obama ended Wet Foot/Dry Foot. That’s a good policy move in my opinion.
I’ll bet most Cubans who are already in are happy to shut the door on the Generation of Cubans indoctrinated in Communist living.

Nothing new here. Cuban spies have been infiltrated in Miami for a long time. Look at all the medicare fraud and insurance fraud and credit card skims going around. I wouldn’t be surprise if or most of them hold U.S.Government position in Miami (ex) mayors, police, attorneys, doctors, and etc.. MIA should do more extensive background and hired only US citizens, since all airports became federalized after 9-11. MIA should hired more English speaking personnel, not just a person who just arrived in a raft or border crossing speaking Spanish and providing bad customer service at the airport and being rude.

Anything they can sell to Iran, China, Russia, or North Korea. Exporting stolen American secret and private data is one of Cuba’s best exports.

Um, I don’t know about the others but you named two – Russian and North Korea – whom Trump will freely give away American secrets to.

Yeah but Trump is so dumb he may have been fed false secrets by the CIA to give to Putin and Kimmy.

A crusade against all Cubans. Not all Cubans are the same. Trying to blame MIA’s poor customer service by blaming someone, anyone. Someone trying to spend our taxes for no reason. I’m tired of listening to stupid statements. First, we, the people, demand to know what info about MIA that is not of public knowledge has been leaked, (with written proof coming from CIA, FBI, NSA or other reputable agency )then, we might consider spens taxpayer’s money on it.

Commissioner Esteban Bovo was tweeting about this. I’m sure the Cubans love that Trump will go hard after these Cuban spys while Obama did nothing. Give me a break. Where are all the Cubans to speak up now that Trump is cutting off asylum requests for Venezuelans and not granting them temporary protected status?

As a 2nd generation Cuban American, I can tell that the older generation doesn’t care. Like the Italians and Irish before them who were discriminated when they got here, now Cubans discriminate against the new arrivals even though they were discriminated when they got here. Someday, descendants of current Central American migrants will discriminate against new arrivals as well.

Anonymous

That’s because the older generation Cubans dislike the way you new generation Cubans take things for granted and abhor the way you all think you’re privileged.

Anonymous

Um… no. As an American born Cuban-American I am more concerned about issues that affect my community, family, job etc. I do not feel “entitled” to hold American foreign policy hostage just so that I can stick it to the Cubans still living there under tyranny. Also, the older generation got tons of benefits and assistance when they first arrived. I also never met one Pedro Pan kid who was put in a cage.

The day I landed in Miami in the early 90s, after haven’t seen his brother for more than 40 years, instead of asking how his was doing, my uncle’s first question was: is your father still a communist? (My father stayed in Cuba). Then he took me outside and gave $100 and asked me not mention the money to his wife. Years later we meet again at a family funeral, His words to me were: I heard you are going to FIU, are you going to register republican, correct?
