‘Iconic’ Development With Three Towers As Tall As 80 Stories Announced In Brickell

Mast Capital has closed on the purchase of the former Capital at Brickell site for $103 million.

The developer is quickly moving to build a project with three towers, and has already submitted plans, according to a release.

The project will include:

  • 80-story condo tower
  • 60-story luxury apartment tower
  • 50-story luxury apartment tower
  • ground floor retail
  • 1,650 parking spaces

In total, the new development will have 2.6 million square feet.

The 80-story condo tower will have 400 units, with a sellout value of nearly $1 billion.

The two rental apartment towers will have a combined 850 units.

In a statement, Mast CEO Camilo Miguel, Jr. said the new project would be “thoughtful” and “iconic.”

Private equity real estate firm Rockpoint has partnered with Mast to acquire the multifamily component of the project.

i will personally pay for a dictionary so these developers can find another word in place of “iconic”

I do enjoy that the folks at TNM realize this word is being overused as well.

I wish developers would stop trying to build “iconic” and just build nice. This is a great example, no these buildings are not “iconic” but they are nice, clean and sleek. Thats a success in my book. Iconic isnt something you build, its something the residents make iconic, like the Southeast Financial Center or Miami Tower which arent crazy tall or weird design’s but still iconic to Miami.

How about “beautiful “? When did that stop being the goal?

Right, Melo?

Maybe the developers should use the word EPIC.

“Transformative”

Right now, based on their renderings, that word isn’t “iconic” but rather “conventional.” Or more accurately: “inconspicuous.”

From thesaurus.com, synonyms for iconic they could use: exemplary, ideal, recognizable, prototypical, epochal, archetypal, paradigmatic. I like “paradigmatic”. You so rarely get to use it in a sentence and these developers pass up the opportunity.

“Paradigmatic” would not be understood by most people and especially, and generally, with foreign buyers. I find these developers know exactly what they are doing on everything including the use of the word iconic notwithstanding that their building is not iconic.

FINALLY. Hope they do something great on the ground floor with retail for the area.

In the past as we have seen, when a three tower development of different heights is proposed, more than likely a shorter building gets built first or the two shortest buildings and the tallest one don’t get built at all. If the developers of this project makes a decision to go that route, I hope they go with building the tallest building first.

The 2016 renderings were the best IMO, but hopefully there will finally be real movement on this development.

Capital at Brickell would have truly been “iconic.” What is proposed here is basically one tower from the 2016 proposal with a more detailed rendering, and the other tower downgraded to crappy boxes.

Anonymous

Agree. Bring back the Capitol at Brickell design.

Another square ugly building is what not is needed. We have dozens of those. We need iconic designs, world class architecture, not another box with windows. They should make them redesign the entire project.

Curvature! Grace!

Anonymous

Curvature very very expensive and possible impractical for the project to work.

Iconic = Arquitectonica. 😖

It’s so Miami to okay a rough proposal and then build something totally different when the final plans go to the contractor. It’s so Miami. And so crooked.

“thoughtful” ???

Anonymous

This project is pretty bland to be called iconic

Anonymous

‘Pretty but generic’ would be a better description.

Anonymous

The tallest tower is nice. The box with two slits across it each half of it sucks.

Anonymous

Iconic? … no. that would the chrysler building or similar.

Generic but respectful to the average person’s eye … yes.

That’s not enough parking for 3 towers

Anonymous

They need to build at least 20,000 parking spaces! This isn’t next to MetroMover or near the MetroRail at all!!!!

That’s 400 more spots than there are units

Wow another massive building.. more traffic in this area.. not thinking of the residents in this area. Just the money..Mr. Mascanosa…How much money does someone need..

Anonymous

Move to Kendall.

Anonymous

how about the writer come up with better terms that actually describe the building itself.
They are not selling the units so why be so overboard with descriptions? With each building they raise the bar to make it sound better then the one before.

Iconic, breathtaking, and the worst “Game changer”.

Won’t be for awhile as the economy appears to be slowing down due to the brutal inflation. 3 announced interest rate increases already scheduled by this admin for 2022 will crush it.
