Miami’s urban core density by 2035 is going to be WILD. Love to see it.

This isn’t part of the core, look to metro mover and rail stops to understand the core.

there is a metromover stop adjacent to the building and Miami’s main train station is right behind it.

Lmfao This is objectively the dead center of the core. Stop trying to redefine the core. The core extends from the Rickenbacker to the Julia Tuttle Causeway.

Can you believe it’s been 40 years since Miami Vice.
And maybe in 40 more years Miami will be a real city.
But maybe not as cool.
Or water-cooled.

Miami putting NYC to shame with all this new construction

Except none of this will be accessible because our public transport is non-existent

You wouldn’t last a second on NYC’s transit in its current state.

No rail, no roads, no future

This is a typical American’t response. Even third world countries have subway systems that work just fine. American’t, making the possible impossible since circa the Eisenhower highway system was completed.

New areas in and around Brickell will be amazing! The rest are not ready for density

Chuk

True that’s a sector that needs an aggressive approach to get the infrastructure to support all this commercial development

Jordan

I’ll bet you $10,000 that it will be accessable.

NYC doesn’t have as many massive empty parking lots in its ‘urban core’ lol

Crazy …

We’re encouraging a walkable and eco friendly city while encouraging good living practices to benefit human health and longevity amongst residents.

There’s no freaking city in the world with no roads and cars. Not even frigging tokyo. By having the downtown core walkable doesn’t change that you would need a car for everything else. And stop using we, please. 99% of this city will not give up their cars for the dream of the 1%. Heck, most of the people commenting here will not give up their cars on the first place. So stop the hypocrisy. It is too tiring !!! You are not the world and the world does not revolve around you. I agree that we need better transit options, so people can choose, or for the ones that have no other options, or for the ones that would rather use transit. But stop telling people that want to drive ro stop doing it.

You should try living in a city without auto-dependency as the default.

I lived in Boston and New York before I moved here and the quality of life shift from transit-rich cities to those where it is non-existent (like Miami) is massive. I stay for the weather.

Get rid of the art school and MDC parking garage for something Okan Tower-tier, and this will become an amazing block.

get rid of one of the only educational institutions and replace it with luxury housing?

Agreed.
That school is a treasure.

I would absolutely hate to live in those buildings. Way too many people in such a small footprint

Anon

You should see Icon Brickell – which has 1,718 units on one lot.

its different. Those are more spread out and most units get some sort of view

Only thing spread out in Icon Brickell is the low-class tenants streaming on OF.

Anonymous

Most only fans live in edgewater – they can’t afford brickell – you just know the famous ones

Anon

Really because I always see them streaming right outside Mary Brickell Village

Anonymous

Totally. Icon is straight trash and it’s hilarious anyone would defend it. Major party and OF vibes. Not somewhere most people would want to live.

Anon

interestingly brickell is still half the density of union city, nj which is all 2 to 4 storeys. the building on the lot might be tall but the acres of land around it for light and air are still empty

Jordan

Source.

Anon

Brickell : 27,302/sq mi (tall towers surrounded by wide roads)

Union City, NJ: 53,293.7/sq mi (small individual buildings with small roads)

Paris: 53,000/sq mi (medium sized buildings surrounded by medium sized roads)

Brickell has very few retail units that aren’t large conglomerates due to huge construction cost of towers, small/medium developers can’t take part in development and thus we have a relatively small number of giant amenity driven buildings that will cost more and more to maintain and will become unaffordable to even the upper middle class that can just about manage it now.

Absolutely hate. What a strong phrase.

Why the down votes. This person didn’t do anything wrong. You are certainly very authoritarian in this site.
