In Edgewater, A 28-Story Apartment Tower Called Modera Biscayne Bay Is Now Rising, Will Include New Road Extension

A 28-story tower called Modera Biscayne Bay continues to rise in Edgewater.

The project includes 296 rental apartments, 11,000 square feet of retail, and an eight-story parking garage with 425 spaces.

A sign placed at the construction site promises residents that a new and improved road extension is being built as part of the project.

Amenities for residents will include a 28th floor pool deck, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, dog park, pet spa, business center, theater room, resident’s lounge and a business center with a cyber cafe offering computer stations and conference rooms.

Corwil Architects is designing the project.

Whatever. I don’t want to hear about it when Biscayne Ave is gridlock 24 hours a day. All they did was build parking parking parking what do they expect? No bike lanes, no transit, nothing. Buyer beware!

In spite of the alarmist tone, I have to agree. I live in the area and commutes get worse every year. Not only there is no real plan for transit, traffic re-routing, or bike lanes, the existing pavement is also quickly deteriorating. There is absolutely no action from the authorities to improve the situation. This area will become a self-contained community where it’s prohibitive to commute in or out during rush hour.

This road extension is great but also will cause more vehicles along Bayshore Drive, making it a more dangerous place to cross to the park.

At 22nd you will have to jog over to NE 4th ave, and that only goes to 24th street before you have to get back on Biscayne.
Not likely to be a huge traffic increase.

Anon

Northbound yes, but southbound, lots of people will shoot over from Biscayne to this bypass down N. Bayshore Drive to I-395 east. It will cause congestion.

Anonymous

With this new road you can go from 24th to 15th and you skip 4 traffic signals, during rush hour that’s significant.

Anonymous

Self contained? If everyone works from home and kids are home-schooled.

Lots of schools in Wynwood (charter, Montessori, etc). Make it safe for parents to cross street with kids.

Anonymous

it already is. i work from home in Edgewater. it is faster to walk up Biscayne than drive (granted take your life in hands crossing the street) … gets worse and worse and nothing will be done by the city – you have to do what is good for u

Anonymous

buyer ? they’re rentals. People need to park their cars.

Damn, this person get some “thumbs down” just for speaking the truth?

Anonymous

Rendering? What road is being extended where? A few more details please.

Anonymous

rendering? you got a sign and picture of the new road. what else do you want? people these days…

Anonymous

A new road lined with parking garages and places for dogs to poop, just what Edgewater needed!

Anonymous

that’s why Miami has balconies

Anonymous

Will neighboring Biscayne 21 condo be the next to go when owners get an offer they can not refuse?

Anonymous

Well rents and condo values in 22 Sky View on the south side of the building will plummet now that the view of the water and park will be completely blocked by this new building. Oh and as a consolation prize you get more car traffic from the new road extension!

Anonymous

The mix on the area is weird , luxury , homeless, bohemian , chaotic , still will take some years to clean .

I still can’t believe they demolished that Beautifull Midcentury Church!!!!

Anonymous

LOL

Anonymous

beautiful? the building had no upkeep

Anonymous

The church was crummy, but it was cultural vandalism to destroy the pre-war Ursine Mansion which could have been incorporated into the development and a crane NOT have been dropped on it.
