Developer Todd Glaser gained approval last month from Miami Beach’s Design Review Board to demolish several historic homes and replace them with modern structures.
The homes qualify as historic because they were built before 1942. Glaser’s new homes appear to be a big improvement compared to some of the pre-1942 homes, which generally were not of architectural significance.
Preservationists have been pushing for stricter rules regulating the demolition of historic homes in the city.
