Interior Demo Permit Issued This Morning At One Bayfront Plaza Supertall Site

Miami’s Building Department issued an interior demolition permit this morning at One Bayfront Plaza, where a supertall tower is planned.

The interior demolition permit was applied for on February 15, with approval granted on May 1.

The permit is for interior demolition of 278,000 square feet of space, at an estimated cost of $400,000.

B2 Group LLC is listed as the contractor. The company is managed by AlliedBean Demolition and The Berg Corporation.

There does not yet appear to be any other demolition permits pending, other than for interior work.

Florida East Coast Realty, which has built some of Miami’s most prominent buildings over the decades, is planning a 1,049-foot supertall on the site that will become the city’s tallest.

No needed. Just wait for another panorama tower.

Interior demo only? I’m suspicious they only plan on remodeling the building.

Given the age of the building they probably have some asbestos mitigation that needs to occur with the interior before they go about taking down the whole thing which would create a lot of dust.

Asbestos mitigation has been an issue for decades, hard to believe it hadn’t already been dealt with a long time ago. Then again, it’s not like the building has been well maintained.

No, interior demolition it’s part of the whole demolition process.

We need to reroute planes so we can build higher towers!! Is it even possible?

Anything is possible but it might be very costly

No, it’s not possible. The airport location and runways configurations are permanently set.

All that can be done is to force all the places taking off to stay on a fixed path above 14th St NW & NE, then to deviate SE or wherever it has to go once it reached the Miami shore line. It’s not that hard to do that, and if the FAA can approve that, then Miami can build much higher towers!

It’s just that easy, eh?

You can build up to 1050′, which is really tall. Quality of a city is not determined by height of buildings. We need to focus on quality architecture and infrastructure.

It’s strange how some people don’t understand just how massive a 1000ft building is and how every building doesn’t need to be that tall

Yeah, a super tall office skyscraper would go nice in this location.

Not to worry about the interior demo only news……. 1. Take away all the drywall, doors, electrical wiring and everything else that can be sold for scrap or reuse….. 2. keep the elevators, remove the asbestos, then the elevator infrastructure……3. Remove the adjacent short structure so that it doesn’t get tangled under the implosion, which…… 4. is easier to manage now that only the skeleton is left.
