Interior Demolition Progressing At One Bayfront Plaza

Interior demolition continues at the One Bayfront Plaza supertall site in Downtown Miami, according to photos by Phillip Pessar.

Miami’s Building Department records show that an interior demolition permit was approved on May 1.

The permit is for interior demolition of 278,000 square feet of space, at an estimated cost of $400,000.

County records show that the 19-story building on the site was built in 1958.

As of this morning, there does not yet appear to be any other demolition permits pending, other than for interior work.

Florida East Coast Realty, which has built some of Miami’s most prominent buildings over the decades, is planning a 1,049-foot supertall on the site that will become the city’s tallest.

It’s really pathetic that people here can’t be excited for growth in new neighborhoods *in their own city*

Every time a Brickellite posts it reminds me of the brain surgeon in this video https://youtu.be/THNPmhBl-8I

Foreign propoganda, from a
Wet Market Bat. Miami loves Brickell.

People here are excited! Ignore what haters say on this site, unless it’s constructive. They probably live on the other side of the world, or another realm of time and space lol

See, it’s another foreign pot-stirrer trying to pit us against each other like they do with our politicians.

I love in brickell (I work downtown) and I’m so happy to see downtown (and midtown for that matter) grow and develop. It’s a win for Miami as a whole regardless whether you live in the specific neighborhood or not

Exciting to have 3 supertalls coming to downtown – one being the tallest building in the US south of Manhattan.

🤦🏻‍♂️

Why would anyone downvote this comment?! Perhaps a Brickelllite getting their panties in a wad that downtown is getting love.

They advanced a new design last year and are literally in the middle of demolishing existing structure on site – clearly it is happening.

Neither is Aston Martin or Waldorf Astoria.

That’s not exactly true… Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia and LA all have buildings taller the the future supertalls in Miami. The supertalls in Miami are the tallest “residential” towers outside of New York. To be honestly that’s a really dumb distinction…

This is the last one left since OBCC is 970 ft and Waldorf might be below 900. This one at one time was also reduced to only 1,010 ft vs 1,049…

Hopefully we will finally get an observatory open to public!

It’s bonkers that Miami still doesn’t have one

Most high rises in Miami are residential towers… residents don’t want the public in their buildings…

Yet they are fine with standers checking into hotel-condos every other day – this is not a reason to leave out observation decks.

Hopefully we get some renderings..

Is this what the demolition looks like or is it just falling apart? How is this nasty thing still standing?

Wonder if they’ll build this 1,049 with 950 foot cranes as well.

We need the SkyRise down in that area too, even redesigned as a spiral building but we need a world-class observatory like most major cities!!

Why not implode the whole thing with dynamite?

there are way too many buildings near it to do that. Would most like cause damage to lots of other properties in the areas and you would have to close major streets to do that

Well they imploded the Everglade Hotel that way, and that building should have never been demolished in the first place.
