Italian Architect Renzo Piano Is Designing A Luxury Condo Tower In North Beach

Terra Group has hired Italian Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano to design a luxury 64-unit tower in North Beach.

Piano’s design for a condo tower at 8701 Collins Avenue replaces plans that Terra had previously submitted for the site, prepared by architect Allan Shulman. The original proposal called for the preservation of the Dezerland Howard Johnson hotel, designed by Albert Anis in 1951 (with interiors by  Morris Lapidus). The hotel is now being demolished, and the site is being cleared.

The luxury condominium project will have a rooftop pool on the 17th floor, and a 149-space underground parking garage, according to Curbed. Landscape design is by West 8 of The Netherlands.

Miami Beach’s Design Review Board will review the plans next month.
