It’s Official: Brightline’s Miami To Orlando Train Service Starts Next Week

Brightline’s MiamiCentral to Orlando International Airport service is just days away from beginning.

The company announced today that the first trains will begin operating on September 22.

You’ll also be able to board the trains to and from Orlando in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.

The schedule shows initially there will be six daily trains each way. By late October, there are 16 daily trains scheduled each way. Each train has 239 seats, for a total of 3,824 seats each way.

It will take around 3 and half hours from MiamiCentral to Orlando Airport.

Prices start at $79, with discounts offered to groups of four.

The company also announced that student discounts of up to 25 percent off Smart fares will soon be offered by registering an active college or university email.

We now need an extension to Tampa. Would love to try out taking a bright line train to TPA to MCO or TPA to MIA

We need a Fort Myers station after that, Florida being connected throughout by highspeed rail will show the rest of the country what’s possible.

As long as there is also a stop downtown, preferably at Union Station, which has TECO access. No planned transit at the airport so far…

Orlando tourist activity is down quite a bit for whatever reasons and ocean cruise folks are going to Cape Canaveral so the Miami based tourist numbers are going to be much less than in previous years. Brightline had better open additional stations in Vero, Melbourne and Tampa to offer a regional connection rather than just tourist activity. Orlando numbers will be well below earlier anticipated levels.

Uber to Cape Canaveral from Orlando airport is 45 minutes. About the same as a car from Melbourne. Still ideal if someone wants to go to Cape Canaveral and not drive. Uber is not expensive up there. I have taken this trip before.

I remember reading a couple of months ago of an express service from Miami Central to Orlando nonstop with a route time of two hours and fifty-nine minutes. Have they eliminated that option?

« 3 and half hours from MiamiCentral to Orlando Airport » for only 240 miles… I’m sorry but that is pretty slow. London to Paris = 214 miles in 2 hours (with an portion under the ocean!).

Probably has to do with something silly like the train between London & Paris is actually High Speed Rail ?

The average speed now is under 70 mph where before it was just over 80, which is the same average speed as the Acela on the NE corridor. Both are not real high-speed rail.

The max speed allowed between Miami and Cocoa is 79 mph. That’s most of the route.

Great post Paul.
London to Paris is 2 hours. EXCELLENT!

Bless Europe.
Thinking about all the terrific innovation in my lifetime, Europe ranks in the top 10 of all continents.

What’s the extra half hour for?

Maybe three hours is the actual travel time and the rest is to account for the four stops it makes along the way in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.

I’ll believe it only after that first train departs. It’s been next week, next month for quite a long time now. I’m not so keen on taking them at their word anymore.

Yeah they built it all for nothing. Hundreds of miles of track and a whole-ass station was just a joke. Are you serious my man?

This guy thinks Brightline is run like our government lol

I think he’s referring to the constant delays, despite the stations existing for quite some time now, even with tracks (i.e., Tri-Rail at MiamiCentral).

Thank you Wolfgang.
Maybe it is just me, but your insight and in depth analysis is extraordinary.

Please let me know when you implement any of your train ideas in the real world.
You will have my full support.
