Jean Nouvel’s Monad Terrace Tops Off In South Beach

Monad Terrace, Pritzker Prize-winning Jean Nouvel’s first built work in Florida, has officially topped off

Nouvel’s vision for an artfully designed building that responds to the surrounding natural elements is now coming to life.

Because of its position on Biscayne Bay, Nouvel imagined Monad Terrace as a “reflective machine” – using daylight, water, glass and steel to achieve glittering reflections that act as an extension of the ocean.

The start of Monad Terrace’s signature water garden (comprised of the central lagoon, reflective pools and adjacent swimming pools) can be seen in the construction shots, along with the sawtooth façade that allows for ocean views from each residence.

The 59-unit project is being built by JDS Development, and is on track for completion next year.
