Jeff Bezos Buys $68M Miami Home & Looking To Buy More

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has purchased a home in Miami, according to Bloomberg.

Bezos is paying $68 million for a 2.8-acre property on Indian Creek Island.

An existing home on the property will be torn down to make way for a new home, The Real Deal reported.

Both news outlets said that Bezos is continuing to look for additional properties to buy in Miami.

He could park 50% of his net worth in a 5.0% note and pay it off by Friday… its less than peanuts to him.

I guess all these billionaires don’t believe in man made climate change when it relates to their lives.

They don’t believe in man made climate change at all.

They just play along with the academics and the politicians knowing that doing so will get them the favoritism necessary to protect their monopolies and crony-capitalism advantages.

Climate change will burn California and flood NYC before Miami where we have new and modern infrastructure and less hostile climate.

Homophobic comment. You should leave Florida and don’t collect $200. We love the lgbtq community in Florida 🏳️‍🌈

Except no one will be alive to see it since it won’t be in any of our lifetimes.

Bezos will be dead before Indian Creek goes underwater.

He should fund colleges, museums and art galleries in miami instead.

That’s how NYC and Chicago became NYC and Chicago.

Politicians need money to build these things

There’s plenty of money in this town. If politician’s want it, they can find funding very easily.

Miamis is rich. Upgrade streetscapes and add museums and art galleries in Brickell.

Politicians fund museums?
They definitely should not be doing that.

Would you rather fund Joe Carollos legal bills? Time for a change Miami!

But not the kind of politicians that run NYC and Chicago today. I’d even take Joe Corolla any day.

nyc and chicago were built in a period when wealthy people had civic pride. now its about hiding your money wherever in the world you can. as long as Miami is a city that promotes wealth storage over building the necessary infrastructure to make it more than a vacation spot it will draw these people who care nothing for the city.

Very true comment. Explains much of the difference between NYC and Chicago and the ‘new cities’, like Miami or even in Texas.

New stuff in NYC and Chicago can be just as bad as every box built in Miami the last 15 years.

We have civic pride in Miami and plenty of wealth. We need leaders and politicians who know how to manage and promote it.

When was the last time someone put up the lion’s share to fund a public space, monument, or cultural center in Miami? Something with renown and grand scale… the Arsht Center? I guess the Frost Museum is the answer?

I mean, I like the PAMM and the Bass, but I’d really kill for a proper museum of classic art down here. Something that’s been worked into the downtown or urban street scape. It’d be amazing if the old Federal Courthouse got used in this way to continue Downtown’s revitalization.

Any why can’t locals go for free!? We need free local nights at our museums!!

The Bass used to have, bar none, the best weekend event but I believe they stopped it I dont think it ever restarted.

Was called “beats after sunset” and I can’t remember if it was free or an absurdly nominal admission fee, but they had a sponsored open bar with a DJ performance, and full admission to the museum (with drinks left outside). We went every night they offered it. It was on Friday or Saturday nights (cant remember) and was literally the perfect date night pre-game for going out. Go for dinner, go to a museum event, enjoy culture, drinks, and then go out for the night. Shame it ended.

That’s not true. We do want to be like NYC and Chicago. We just want to be a better version.

South Florida has plenty of talent and one of the highest educated communities in America. Miami Dade College is the largest community college in America. With the highest rate of graduation of any community college around the nation. As well as for FIU, Nova University.

Dude, stop it already.. Miami Dade College? I’d rather put the University of Phoenix on my resume. NY has CUNY and SUNY, very reasonably priced and high value institutions. That was funny though.
