Jetblue recently placed several billboards near MIA taking aim at the airport’s reputation for customer service:

I don’t mind MIA’s ramshackle shit show service. Reminds me I’m back home.
True! MIA need to improve customer service.. TSA is shit
TSA is shit everywhere and they are a federal agency, MIA has no control over them!
So true. I’m from Miami but I live outside of Seattle now and I visit home at least twice a year. Trust me, If I didn’t have to fly, I wouldn’t!!!
OH please! MIA has great service compared to other major airports most of their shortcomings are due to federal mandates and such to be such an old airport with this much traffic they do OK. If you hate TSA get Global Entry and FLL is Miami’s parking lot, you can’t even compare.
Its probably more about AA and its customer service out of MIA (its hub) compared to JetBlue’s service out of FLL.
While I prefer to fly Jetblue (better service and by far more comfortable planes) FLL is an absolute disaster and you can’t compare the two airports. MIA wins hands down. But this is likely more about AA vs JetBlue.
I really have few problems at MIA, pretty standard for a big airport, and I definitely prefer it to the shit show that is FLL, place hasn’t been renovated since 1990
Miami customer service is bad across the board (specially with city officials), not just the at the airport.
I don’t think that’s what they mean. I think they’re trying to say “Missing In Action”…it’s definitely poor copy for an ad and I cringe every time I drive by it…but they’re not taking a shot at the city or the airports reputation. It was a play on words gone bad.
It’s what they mean. Miami tried to vastly overcharge JetBlue for service out of MIA, so FLL made a deal with jetblue and happily accepted them there; leaving everyone in Miami without the amazing service they offer.
The ad is meant to mean both.
Like my favorite Virgin Atlantic ad, “We didn’t get to be number 1 by treating you like number 2”
That’s exactly my interpretation as well.
just read the ad….customer service thats never ‘missing in action’…jetblue is touting their service level out of ft lauderdale….so whats the problem with that…?
OK, so it’s a play on words, where MIA means both ‘missing in action’ and Miami International Airport. It’s kind of cute, but not all that clever. It’s too convoluted to convey its meaning clearly and quickly (vital for a billboard-style communication). I saw it and guessed that maybe JetBlue was initiating MIA routes? As a promotion for their FLL service, this just fails. Easy fix would have been a short payoff after the logo, ‘Only from FLL’ or something.
PERFECTLY SAID -/!!!
Always JET BLUE
NO ifs ands or Buts…..
MIAMI has American ( our country’s Carrier ) to live up to a name .. A Vague Continuously Deteriorating Concept -/ not even a product .
A VAGUE MERGER / with the SAME PROBLEMS and MORE -/
AA / NOTHING SPECIAL IN THE AIR!!!
Yikes. There are many ways of getting across a message like that. Unnecessary to put down the cities main airport? Maybe the luggage handlers were mean? Or maybe the parking wasn’t close enough? TSA is the fed’s right? Maybe they mean that?
That is the typical mentality of Broward folks, trash and put down Miami Dade and it’s residents while at the same time benefit from the worldwide name recognition that Miami has….they are pathetic!
Palm Beach loves you both…
Broward’s soul is missing in action.
No place in the World like MIA or MIAMI -/ just staffing i issues MAINLY AA…..I’m a Commercial Aviation Enthusiast …..my Apart is right on the Bay on a 180 degree str8 path of the Flight Paths ….I frequently dine and go to watch planes at MIA……
Mia means mine in Italian ….. that’s all 😀
MIA is equally as bad as La Guardia
brilliant campaign….free enterprise at its best……
