Jorge Perez Slams Developers For Proposing Condo Projects That ‘Don’t Make Sense’

Related Group’s Jorge Perez thinks that are condo projects proposed in Miami that “don’t make sense” and “should not be developed.”

Perez told The Real Deal that developers have come to Miami from Colombia and Argentina who “don’t know the market,” and that some are proposing projects that wouldn’t work “even in a good market.”

Perez didn’t specify which projects he was referring to, saying he didn’t want to throw anyone under the bus.

According to Perez, the strength of Miami’s condo market is almost impossible to predict, since around 80 percent of sales are to foreigners. Demand in Miami will rise and fall based on conditions in places such as Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, he said.

Because of course all of Related’s bland painted stucco formulaic projects (most featuring with the corner cutting external fire escape circulation design that results in buildings with a design on only 3 sides) make sense.

He is for sure slamming the Aston Martin project. Its gonna take away his buildings view. Also, that project looks great, but if you look at that plot of land it is small. they will make it, it will look gorgeous, but living space wise it is going to be a shoebox for smaller units.

What??? Condos at Aston are huge, around 3,000 sf….at least they are huge to me…

Try fitting a triangle sofa or bed in some of those spaces. The lot and building itself is shaped like a slice of Pizza. Granted those who can afford 3,000 square feet will not feel the tight spaces, but for someone buying a 1 or 2 bedroom will def feel it. That lot is wayy to small, unless you want a novelty condo. Regardless it will def make the Miami skyline glisten…

Are you suggesting that Jorge, since he is Argentinian, has a self-hate thing going on?

The foreigners are taking over Miami… the people that live here (not just vacation) or who were born and raised here cannot afford any of these condos!

He looks like he would pull up next to me at a stop light and ask me for some Grey Poupon. Indeed a douche.

Wow! What a bunch of envious and jealous men….and all “Anonymous”. Never made it in their own fields or here in Miami. I could never be with men that have “no cojones” regardless! Do your own thing, critizising whoever has made it looks really bad!

He is correct ….. it is not an easy game . The time to get in and get out is the key of success , will make your project profitable or not .

He is right just this one time. Aston Martin will never recoup the $125 Million they paid for the land and we are not even adding the construction costs to it yet.
Ok Jorge, Start making the Auberge then. That building makes a lot of sense, yet you dropped it.

So you know more than the family that bought the land? haha It is always funny to read all this comments from the wanna-be i-know-everything developers

Yes I do. Dumb mistake to pay $125 million for an acre when Genting paid $236 million for 16 acres of waterfront land. This is not Hong Kong. At least not yet.
