Ken Griffin Dines With Jeff Bezos In Miami

Billionaire Ken Griffin was seen in photos talking with Amazon’s billionaire founder Jeff Bezos at an event in Miami Beach this weekend.

The two were attending Carbone Beach, which took place in South Beach during Formula 1 weekend, according to the Observer.

Griffin recently moved his company and his home to Miami, and is planning to build a supertall office tower in Brickell.

He has previously said he plans to personally pitch some of the most valuable US companies, including Apple, to fill the new tower.

Bezos grew up and attended school in the Miami area.

HQ2 in Miami was a no brainer. One of the few mistakes Bezos made. Last I heard construction was halted in VA.

All the better we didn’t get HQ2 if construction was halted.

If they had selected Miami, they wouldn’t have halted construction. They would have expanded their footprint!

Construction stopped on a portion of the development. Like most big companies they are scaling back on real estate space but i think one portion of the project is moving forward.

Jeff Bezos said he wished there were a Metromover line to South Beach. He wanted to roll across the bay with the hoi polloi.

By the time a 30 MPH shortbus reaches across the bay, Amazon Prime can deliver all your packages.

People moving here for work would rather see the downtown area and infrastructure built up along the Miami River. Most people will be living downtown.

lol—nope, most will live in the ‘burbs. I’ve worked in 3 different downtown offices in the last 20+ years, incomes range from $50k/yr to $250k/yr, and 90% (and that’s being kind) of the offices live outside of downtown. Facts. And don’t give me the high roller exception ruse—most of them live on Pinecrest acres or in Miami Beach condos.

Amazon HQ2 coming to Miami soon? It would be a talent magnet and already incredible synergy between this city and Amazon values.
