Saks signed a deal in August to lease 108,000 square feet of space at Brickell City Centre, but it is the food hall in the store that could truly be unique for Miami.
According to lease documents obtained by TNM, the retailer will be permitted to operate a gourmet market within the store – but it must meet high-end standards. The lease states that ‘Permitted Use may include, without limitation, a restaurant and/or first class food hall, by way of example, but not limitation, the food hall contained within Harrods or ‘Eataly’, as part of the operations of a Saks Fifth Avenue or Luxury Equivalent Department Store.’
That of course doesn’t mean that Saks has a deal with either Harrods or Eataly, but it will at least be a luxury gourmet market.
Saks’ lease at Brickell City Centre runs for 20 years. The retailer has the option for two 10-year extensions that would bring the total to 40 years.
