Legacy Miami Worldcenter Passes Podium Level As Construction Continues

Contractors building the Legacy Miami Worldcenter tower have passed the podium level of construction, the project’s live webcam shows.

Typically, shell construction accelerates once contractors are working on the more standardized upper floors of buildings.

The pool deck and other amenities are planned on level 9 at Legacy, according to a filing with Miami planners earlier this year.

Levels 1 through 9 will include a wellness facility, restaurants, ballrooms and banquet halls, a gym, a shul, and parking, among other uses.

Office are planned on levels 10 through 15, with hotel rooms on levels 16 through 25. Condos start at level 26 and up, with a sky lounge planned on level 44.

Legacy’s rooftop curve is planned to top off at 620 feet above ground, or 633 feet above sea level, A spire is planned to reach 679 feet above ground, or 692 feet above sea level.

Kobi Karp is the architect.

The lower section that was going to have the health center has been drastically reduced in size. It originally was the full block from 9th to 10th street now its much less than that. What happened?

They haven’t started on it yet. It’s phased construction. It’s still going to be there.

It won’t – those perforations are needed for exhaust.

Just west of the podium is an extension that appears to be a parking garage…the rendering
seems to show it much smaller.

One of the ugliest projects I’ve ever seen. It belongs in the 80s. There is no cohesiveness in the design whatsoever. This will be as bad of an eyesore as Paramount.

The 80s are coming back. Don’t you know? This will be ‘hip’ and ‘chic’ just in time!

the forms are caught up in the 80’s as its trying to be significant but the reality is that it will be buried behind E11EVEN towers to the north and will have an insignificant presence on the skyline or on I-395 and the signature bridge. If Simkins does develop the Miami Innovation District of the 10 acres of land, It will not be seen on I-95. It will be blocked as well as well on the east side with new towers . It will be seen from the Miami World Plaza and remain an enclave within the park west neighborhood.
