Lincoln Road's 'Very Successful' Zara Wants To Expand

Lincoln Road’s ‘Very Successful’ Zara Wants To Expand

Zara is requesting permission to expand their store on Lincoln Road.

The problem: a hallway area that may be considered historic would need to be demolished.

If demolition is approved, the second level of the store could eventually double in size, plans show.

In a letter, an attorney for property owner 420 Lincoln Road Development LLC wrote that the portion of the hallway proposed to be demolished does not maintain high architectural integrity, and can easily be replicated.

Zara’s store on Lincoln Road is “very successful,” the attorney wrote.

Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board is scheduled to decide on the demolition at a meeting on April 9.

Seeing Zara expanding is good news, here and the location at BCC. Maybe we’ll see Uniqlo enter South Florida within the next couple years? Expansion into every major U.S. city was planned by 2020.

Yes please Uniqlo!!!

Those hallways are beautiful. They make us think nothing has changed since 1950. They should be preserved.

The ground floor lobby and second floor lobby are open to the public and preserved (as are all of the hallways throughout the building). This is a hallway on the second floor that is not original to the building and not really ‘public.’ Lincoln Road’s success only helps in the preservation of historical Miami Beach – allowing an anchor tenant to expand on the second floor of a building they already occupy is good for all parties.

And opened to the public, if possible.

A hallway that nobody sees or uses??? Knock it down. I don’t believe this falls in the realm of things worth saving.
