Zara is requesting permission to expand their store on Lincoln Road.
The problem: a hallway area that may be considered historic would need to be demolished.
If demolition is approved, the second level of the store could eventually double in size, plans show.
In a letter, an attorney for property owner 420 Lincoln Road Development LLC wrote that the portion of the hallway proposed to be demolished does not maintain high architectural integrity, and can easily be replicated.
Zara’s store on Lincoln Road is “very successful,” the attorney wrote.
Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board is scheduled to decide on the demolition at a meeting on April 9.
